The new GST rate has reduced the tax from 28% to 18% on all two-wheelers with an engine capacity of less than 350cc. The good news for Yamaha is that its entire lineup falls under this category. Take the R15 for example - this beast has seen a price cut of nearly Rs 18,000, making it an even sweeter deal for enthusiasts. The only exception here is the R3, priced at Rs 3.59 lakh, which comes with a 321cc engine and wasn't part of this announcement.

Speaking on the development, Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group said, "We would like to thank the Government of India for the timely reduction in GST on two-wheelers. This step will provide a strong boost to the two-wheeler demand during the festive season. By making two-wheelers more affordable, it will not only benefit customers directly but also stimulate overall consumption and create positive momentum for the industry. At Yamaha, we are pleased to pass on the full benefit of this reduction to our customers across India."

Verdict
The revised tax rates have surely brought a moment of relief across the country, with Prime Minister Modi even calling it a Diwali gift from the government to the people. This announcement comes as a major boost, especially for the auto sector, where sales had been stagnating and many feared the industry had already peaked. Thankfully, with the new GST rates kicking in from September 22, consumer spending power is expected to rise, giving the market a much-needed push.
