You Can Now Buy The Volkswagen Virtus 1.5 TSI With Manual Gearbox
  • Deliveries will start from June 2023
  • The Virtus 1.5 turbo petrol was only available with DSG till now
  • All-black colour & Lava Blue also added in the sedan line up

Ever since VW launched the Virtus in India, a lot of enthusiasts have been demanding the potent 1.5 turbo petrol TSI engine with a 6 speed stick shift. The company has finally done that and made it official today - you can finally get the top of the line Virtus GT Plus with a MT gearbox. While pricing isn't out yet, this one could carry an ex-showroom price of Rs 17 lakh. The Lava Blue shade you see here is new as well (below).

We are in Kochi for the brand's annual conference and apart from this new model, there have been more announcements including the Taigun Trail edition. Back to the Virtus 1.5 MT, as this is the top spec trim, it will come fully loaded with GT elements, LED lights all around, 6 Airbags, ESC, 25.6 cm screen, wireless connectivity for CarPlay and Android Auto, electric sunroof, smart touch AC panel, wireless charging etc. And ofcourse, it comes with a 5 star GNCAP rating which makes it the safest in its segment.

The Virtus 1.5 MT will lock horns with the newly launched Verna. The Verna is available with a manual transmission for the turbo petrol engine and this is exactly what VW is targeting with the new launch. The company also launched a new all-black shade for the Virtus - the one you see below. Thankfully, this shade comes with all black alloys and well and looks smashing to say the least.

The 1.5 TSI engine on the Virtus makes 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. ARAI certified mileage of the new MT model is also awaited. While the 7 speed DSG automatic does offer quick shifts, nothing beats the joy of having a stick shift 'box. This will also make the sticker price drop by about Rs 1.4 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh.
