Mahindra has dropped a fresh interior-focused teaser of its upcoming premium SUV, the XUV 7XO, offering the most detailed glimpse yet into the cabin upgrades buyers can expect. Slated for an official launch on January 5, 2026, the XUV 7XO is positioned as a meaningful step-up from the XUV700 rather than a routine mid-cycle refresh. Mahindra XUV 7XO: Triple-Screen Layout Signals A Tech-Forward Cabin

The biggest takeaway from the latest teaser is the confirmation of a triple-screen dashboard layout, a setup previously seen on Mahindra's XEV 9e. The XUV 7XO is expected to feature three 12.3-inch displays, comprising a central touchscreen for infotainment, a fully digital instrument cluster for the driver, and a dedicated co-driver screen. This layout instantly elevates the XUV 7XO's digital appeal and places it among the most technologically advanced SUVs in its class, clearly distancing it from the interior layout of the current XUV700.

Mahindra has also confirmed the presence of Electric Boss Mode, underlining the XUV 7XO's focus on rear-seat comfort. This feature is designed to allow extended adjustment of the front passenger seat, freeing up additional legroom for rear occupants, an important draw for chauffeur-driven buyers. Enhancing this premium experience further are rear window sun blinds, which add privacy and improve comfort, particularly on long highway journeys or in bright conditions.

Another notable highlight is the introduction of a new steering wheel design, expected to be a two-spoke unit featuring Mahindra's illuminated Twin Peaks logo. The teaser also hints at a more sophisticated ambient lighting setup, likely offering multi-colour customization for a richer cabin atmosphere. Additionally, the interior colour palette appears to shift toward lighter, more premium tones, possibly incorporating beige and maroon shades, marking a clear move away from the darker cabin themes seen in the XUV700. Mahindra seems to be sticking with its BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) philosophy for rear-seat entertainment. Instead of fixed screens, the XUV 7XO will offer dedicated mounts for tablets or personal devices, allowing rear passengers to use their own screens.

Powertrains Likely to Be Carried Over

On the mechanical front, the XUV 7XO is expected to retain the proven engine lineup from the XUV700. This includes the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engines, paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions. While no major mechanical upgrades are anticipated, Mahindra is likely to focus on refinement improvements, NVH optimisation, and smoother drivability as part of the update.
Mahindra has clarified that pre-bookings opened on December 15, 2025, with a token amount of Rs 21,000, primarily to help customers secure an early position in the booking queue. At this stage, buyers will not be able to choose specific variants, powertrains, or transmissions. Full bookings with detailed configuration options will open closer to the January 5, 2026, launch.
