Expert Verdict on Taisor
The newly launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is a good alternative if you don’t want to buy the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It does offer a bit of distinction from the exterior, but the interior only gets the Toyota logo and a different colour theme. The premium price tag over the Fronx is not justified by the Taisor. It will most likely attract those customers who don’t want a Maruti badge on their car but like the Fronx.

Variant Recommendation
The Taisor comes in 5 variants namely E, S, S+, G, & V. The base E variant is highly recommended for those who are tight on budget or want to buy the CNG powertrain, but you have to manage with low features. The second S variant can be a good option as it offers decent features but it is not a worthy upgrade over the E. The S+ can be considered a good upgrade as it is the top-of-the-line variant of the 1.2-litre petrol engine and comes with decent features that will keep you satisfied on daily runs. The G & V variants come with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, while the G variant offers good options in this lineup with a turbo engine that misses on the 9-inch screen, 360 camera, and some other features. But this variant offers good value for money if you want to buy the turbo engine options. At last, if you are someone who doesn’t want to miss any feature the S variant can be considered as it comes with all the bells and whistles
Pros & Cons of Toyota Taisor
Should I buy the Taisor?
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor does not bring any exclusivity, it is just a rebadged version of the Fronx with some design changes. If you are someone who doesn’t like the colour options and design language of the Fronx, the Taisor will serve as the same alternative with some design changes which might attract you. The interior has a similar layout. One advantage it gets over the Fronx is the 3-year and 1 lakh km warranty which results in a more worry-free ownership experience. On the other hand, if you want more features that offer and more premium experience you can look for the KIA Sonet or Hyundai Venue.
- The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor comes with a muscular stance. The front profile has twin LED DRLs, a trapezoidal front grille with a chrome line connecting the DRLs, an LED headlamp, and a silver skid plate. The upper part of the grille is reminiscent of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
- The side profile gets different-looking 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, which makes it different from the Maruti Fronx. The silver roof rails also give it a sporty stance from the side. The sloping rear of the roof gives it a crossover look.
- The rear gets a connected LED tail lamp similar to the Fronx, but the lighting element inside the tail lamp is different from the Fronx.
- The cabin of the Taisor is generously spacious; it comes with decent storage spaces and comfortable seating. The cabin can easily accommodate 4 adults, but fitting 3 adults in the rear seat for long journeys may not provide much comfort.
- The soft-touch material on the door pads offers good comfort, and the legroom in the cabin is good, but the sloping roof at the rear creates less headroom for tall passengers.
- On the features front, it comes with good features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360 camera, wireless charging, automatic climate control, head-up display, pedal shifter, and more.
- For customers who are looking for a fuel-efficient engine, the Taisor is available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 89.73 PS of power and 114 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. The brand also offers a CNG powertrain mated with a 5-speed gearbox.
- For enthusiasts, it offers a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 100.06 PS of power and 147.6 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed AT gearbox. However, this engine is not as enthusiastic as its competitors, but it does offer a good punch when needed.
