2022 Mahindra Scorpio - Here's What You Can Expect From The New SUV

Mahindra first launched the Thar in 2020 and now the carmaker is gearing up for the debut of their new product, XUV700 on August 14th and the next SUV in their pipeline is the new-age Scorpio that will be launched by early next year. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio has been spied several times on Indian roads and in this article, we explain all the things that you can expect from the upcoming SUV. Let's get started!

The front fascia of the new Scorpio will now house a dual-barrel LED headlight pattern with integrated LED daytime running light. The grille design will more or less remain the same and with the addition of chrome, the new Scorpio will attract a wide audience. The front bumper will now be bigger than before and overall, the front profile gives us an aggressive approach to the design.

Moving to the side profile then the increased length is clearly visible and overall, it retains the same boxy style silhouette as before. The roof rail design is also more or less the same. What's new is the updated alloy wheels design, increased window area for the rear quarter and the creases that gives a more youthful approach to the new Scorpio.

Shifting your focus to the rear then the side-opening tailgate is retained along with the short bumper. Like the front that adds a bit of drama to the design, the rear continues with a subtle look. We expect that the LED taillights are made standard across all variants of the new Scorpio.

The interior of the new Scorpio will be more advanced and come with technology-rich features. The overall design will be subtle yet user friendly. Feature-wise, a larger touchscreen infotainment system with modern connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is expected.

Other features include roof-mounted speakers, dual-zone climate control., cruise control, engine start/stop function, flat-bottom steering wheel are confirmed. We do expect other features like Sony based audio system, wireless charging, connected technology, digital instrument cluster and more to follow to the list.

The new Scorpio will be powered by two engine options - 2.0L mStallion petrol and the 2.2L mHawk diesel. Both the engines are offered in the new-gen Thar that generates 150 PS and 130 PS respectively. We expect that the power figures when coming to the Scorpio will rise to 170 PS for the petrol and 150 PS for the oil burner. Both the engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual as standard along with an optional 6-speed torque converter unit.

As of now, there is not even a single hint on the prices but we do expect it to range from Rs 12.90 lakh to Rs 18.40 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. If rumours are to be believed then the top-spec variant is expected to come with 4WD as a standard option.
