2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Limousine Set for Launch in India on March 3

Mercedes Benz expands its Maybach range in India with the upcoming 2022 Maybach S- Class Limousine.

Mercedes Benz India will start 2022 with the launch of the all-new 2022 Maybach S-Class Limousine on March 3. The German marquee had earlier launched the locally manufactured S-Class, and the upcoming Maybach Limousine will slot in above as the flagship model. This will bring the total number of Maybach models in India to two, alongside the Maybach GLS.

Being a Maybach Limousine, luxury is of epitome and indulgence is its core philosophy. Dimensionally, the ultra-luxurious sedan measures 5,469 mm long and it sits on a 3,396 mm long wheelbase, i.e. again 181 mm longer than the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The 2022 Maybach S-Class has grown 31 mm longer than its previous iterations, and so has the quality of the features available inside.

For starters, it gets the Executive package and Chauffeur package as standard-fit packages. This gives customers two executive seats with independent seat surfaces and back rest. The footrest on the front seats along with the electrically adjustable leg rest, which now extends by 50 mm- certainly aids in a luxurious and comfortable make-shift bed. The neck/shoulder heating via the air vent under the headrest further wraps you with comfort.

When it comes to its ride quality, the S-Class takes matters a notch above with a noise cancel cabin using counter-phased sound waves, and a very busy AIRMATIC suspension that continuously adjusts the dampings, as well as the characteristics of the powertrain via different modes, to keep the ride comfortable.  The driver meanwhile is greeted by the new five display screen set up as part of the new MBUX user experience. The screens include a 12.8-inch OLED central display, a 12.3-inch 3D display, MBUX tablets for the rear passengers, and an augmented reality heads-up display. The seats, armrests, headrests as well as steering wheels are wrapped in exquisite Nappa leather. And along with cabin ambient lighting experience, the mood inside the Maybach simply becomes uplifting.

Coming outside, the exterior design of the Maybach S-Class will remind you of the locally assembled. The 2022 Maybach S-Class does looke sleeker than before, and the new headlight and taillamp design are visible proofs of that. The long swooping roofline flanked by chrome lines, and the Maybach logo on the C-pillar further distinguish itself from a regular S-Class. Aside from that, the S-Class rides on 20-inch Maybach wheels with a unique retro-monoblock design, wrapped with noise-canceling tires.

Mechanically, the 2022 Maybach S-Class houses a new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine under its hood, along with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The combined power output is rated at 496 bhp and 700 Nm of torque, which is transferred by a 9-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels. Aside from aiding with a bit more power, the 468-volt hybrid system also controls the E-Active body control suspension by using a stereo camera to scan the road ahead, and smooth out over undulations.
