Citroen recently unveiled the C3 Aircross SUV in India. It is expected to be launched soon in the coming few months. Now the French automaker is all set to bring a new crossover sedan to the Indian market. According to some media reports, Citroen is working on a crossover sedan that will be the third vehicle from the brand to be based on the India-specific CMP modular platform, the first & second being the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV respectively. Likely to be named C3X, the new vehicle is set to launch in India sometime in 2024. Here's everything you need to know about this new Citroen vehicle.
What To Expect From Citroen C3X Crossover Sedan
With the C3X crossover sedan, Citroen is aiming to bring a rival for the midsize sedans like VW Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, etc. Citroen plans to differentiate its sedan by giving it some SUV characteristics like a higher ground clearance, and unique fastback style design. The Citroen C3X is expected to be designed on the lines of the larger C4X & C5X which are sold in European markets. Moreover, the C3X is likely to get a C3 Aircross SUV-like front with a sloping roof design at the rear. It is also expected to get large alloy wheels like the C3 Aircross & rugged cladding all around. As both C3 Aircross & C3X will share the same platform, we expect the C3X to have the same wheelbase as the C3 Aircross i.e. 2,671mm.
On the powertrain front, the Citroen C3X is expected to come with the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. Along with a 6-speed manual gearbox Citroen could also offer an automatic gearbox with C3X. Moreover, Citroen also plans to bring an all-electric version of C3X a few months after the launch of ICE C3X. Looking at the track record & product launch strategy of Citroen, we expect the brand to launch the C3X sometime between June & August 2024, and the C3X Electric about 6 months after the launch of C3X.
