Kia has unveiled the Syros EV and opened pre-bookings for Rs. 25,000 through its website and dealerships across the country. The Syros EV pairs an ARAI-certified range of 526 km with a lifetime battery warranty, an assured buyback programme, and flexible Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing. Kia says India's EV buyers have moved beyond range as the sole consideration, now expecting a vehicle that fits into their lives without compromise; loaded with tech and features.
Exterior

The Syros EV's design combines the bold styling and versatility of an SUV with EV-focused technology, features, and safety. It gets Kia's signature digital tiger face, ice-cube LED headlamps, standard front LED fog lamps, and LED DRLs with integrated turn indicators, along with LED tail lamps at the rear for a modern look. Other exterior highlights include flush door handles, 17-inch crystal-cut dual-tone aero alloy wheels (with a 16-inch option on lower trims), glossy black front and rear skid plates with aero inserts, glossy black roof rails, and distinct side garnishing.

The cabin offers a spacious, versatile layout with multiple colour themes, including Cloud Blue & Grey, Onyx Black & Off-White, and an exclusive Onyx Black & Hunter Green option.
The driver gets a 4-way powered seat, while all occupants get ventilated seats. The rear seats offer generous legroom and come with a 60:40 split with slide and recline functions, allowing passengers to adjust comfort to their liking.
Motor and Range
Built on Kia's K1 platform, the Syros EV is offered with two battery options - a 51.4 kWh pack rated at an ARAI-certified 526 km range (MIDC Full), and a 42 kWh pack rated at 443 km. Kia claims the larger battery makes the Syros EV the first vehicle in its segment to cross the 500 km range mark.
The Syros EV produces 171 PS and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 8.1 seconds with the 51.4 kWh pack - a figure Kia claims is best-in-segment. The battery uses Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) chemistry, is IP67-rated, and features a liquid-cooled thermal management system.
EV-specific technologies include paddle-shifter regenerative braking with Auto Mode and i-Pedal, Vehicle-to-Load (internal), a battery heating system, digital key, Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS), and column-type shift-by-wire.
Battery and Charging

The Syros EV supports DC fast charging from 10-80% in 39 minutes using a 100 kW charger, aided by a battery conditioning feature that optimises temperature for faster charging. It also offers 10.8 kW onboard AC charging.
Charging is managed through K-Charge, Kia India's EV charging ecosystem on the MyKia app, which brings together over 20,300 charging points from 23 Charge Point Operators onto a single platform for locating, routing to, and paying for charging. Kia also has 129+ dealerships equipped with DC fast chargers and 275+ EV-ready workshops across the country.
More over, Kia is offering a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty on the Syros EV. This is backed by an Assured Buyback programme to support resale value, and a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing option to reduce the upfront purchase cost.
Features

The cabin is anchored by twin 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, with a 5-inch climate control panel positioned between them. This is supported by Kia Connect 2.0 with 95+ features, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Harman Kardon 8-speaker sound system, and a wireless smartphone charger.
Other features include 64-colour ambient lighting with LED footwell lamps, a dual-camera dashcam, rear door sunshade curtains for privacy, multiple USB Type-C ports including a new 100W front USB-C charger, and a 16-litre frunk.
Safety

The Syros EV comes with Level 2 ADAS featuring 16 functions, including Front Collision-Avoidance Assist (for cars, pedestrians, cyclists, junction-turning, and direct oncoming scenarios), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping and Lane Following Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist, and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert. A 360-degree camera, Blind View Monitor in the instrument cluster, and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist – Reverse (PCA-R), along with front, rear, and side parking sensors, aid confident parking in tight urban spaces.
Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Brake Assist System (BAS), a high-line Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, Rear Occupant Alert, all-wheel disc brakes, and an Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold.
Variants and Colour Options

It comes in nine colours: Glacier White Pearl, Frost Blue, Gravity Grey, Pewter Olive, Magma Red, Ivory Silver Matte, Ivory Silver Gloss, and Aurora Black Pearl - with an additional Xclusive Matte Graphite & Aurora Black Pearl dual-tone option on the X-Line ER variant.

End Note
The Syros EV impresses on paper with strong range, fast charging, loaded features, and a reassuring ownership package with lifetime warranty, buyback, and BaaS. But in Indian market, everything hinges on pricing, expected launch around the end of July, which will determine if it's a genuine disruptor or just another well-equipped contender.
