Bajaj Freedom 125

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG

What sets the Freedom 125 apart is its bi-fuel system, combining CNG and petrol. It comes fitted with a 2 kg CNG tank under the seat and a 2-litre petrol tank as a reserve. This configuration does make it heavier than standard 125 cc bikes, with a kerb weight of 147.8 kg, but the trade-off is significantly improved fuel economy and range.

Under the hood, it houses a 125 cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 9.4 bhp and 9.7 Nm of torque. The horizontally-mounted engine is supported by a trellis frame, which also helps protect the CNG cylinder - a first-of-its-kind setup in Indian motorcycles.

Fuel Efficiency and Cost Advantage

Bajaj claims that the Freedom 125 can run up to 102 km per kg of CNG and delivers around 64 km per litre on petrol. Together, the tanks provide a total riding range of up to 330 km - 200 km on CNG and 130 km on petrol. As per the manufacturer, this dual-fuel approach can cut your running costs by up to 50% when compared to conventional petrol-only 125 cc motorcycles.

Bajaj Freedom 125: Features and Practicality

The motorcycle doesn't just innovate under the tank - it comes loaded with practical features. These include a telescopic front suspension, monolink rear suspension, and LED headlamp as standard. Higher variants also get a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth support for added connectivity.

With a seat height of 825 mm, it may feel a bit taller for shorter riders, primarily due to the CNG tank's placement. While the quilt-stitched seat adds a premium touch, some users may find under-thigh support lacking on longer rides.

Verdict

The Freedom 125 already stands out as India's first CNG motorcycle, and with this Rs. 5,000 discount, the entry-level variant becomes even more appealing for budget-conscious buyers and daily commuters. However, since Bajaj hasn't declared the price drop as permanent, interested buyers may want to act fast before the offer ends.
