Bajaj Auto has officially launched the refreshed Pulsar 220F in India, pricing it at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). One of the longest-running nameplates in the Pulsar portfolio, the 220F receives a set of visual and safety-oriented updates while staying true to the formula that made it a favourite among enthusiasts. Bajaj Pulsar 220F: Fresh Colours & Visual Tweaks

The updated Bajaj Pulsar 220F is now available in four new colour options, each paired with sportier, more contemporary graphics. These include Black Cherry Red, Black Ink Blue, Black Copper Beige, and the standout Green Light Copper. Among them, the Green Light Copper shade is the most eye-catching, featuring a green base complemented by copper and dark grey accents that give the bike a fresher, more premium presence. The other colourways stick to a darker theme but benefit from sharper decals that add visual appeal. Another notable update is the addition of LED turn indicators, replacing the older bulb-type units. While subtle, this change helps modernise the overall look and aligns the 220F with newer Pulsar models. On the feature front, the Pulsar 220F carries forward its Bluetooth-enabled LCD instrument cluster. This console supports turn-by-turn navigation, call and message alerts, distance-to-empty readouts and a clock, ensuring the bike remains practical for modern riders. A USB charging port is also offered as standard, adding convenience for daily use.

An expected key upgrade for the Pulsar 220F was the introduction of dual-channel ABS to upgrade the braking safety, but this has been skipped, and the bike continues with a single-channel ABS only. The rest of the braking hardware remains unchanged, with a 280 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc. Suspension duties continue to be handled by telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers with preload adjustability, maintaining the bike's familiar ride characteristics.

Engine and Hardware: Tried-and-Tested Setup Continues

Mechanically, the Pulsar 220F remains unchanged, retaining its well-known 220cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine. The motor produces around 20.6 bhp and 18.55 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed gearbox. This setup has long been appreciated for its balance of usable performance, reliability and everyday rideability, and Bajaj has wisely chosen not to alter it with this update. The motorcycle continues to ride on 17-inch alloy wheels, now shod with Eurogrip tyres. At Rs 1,28,490 (ex-showroom), the updated Pulsar 220F is only marginally more expensive than the outgoing version.

Verdict

The updated Bajaj Pulsar 220F is not a radical reinvention and it doesn't need to be. By introducing new colour schemes and sleeker LED indicators, Bajaj has addressed key areas without disturbing the motorcycle's core identity. For buyers who value a reliable engine, sporty styling and everyday usability, the Pulsar 220F remains a strong option, proving that even long-standing icons can evolve gracefully without losing their character.
