Best selling cars list for January 2022 has been released. We elaborate the sales based on the category of cars to help you understand the growing sectors.
From the chip shortage all over the world to waiting periods extending over an year; car sales have finally picked up the track after a struggle period due to Covid-19.
Registering a total growth of 14.29% from January 2021 to January 2022; car sales have been picking up the pace before the pandemic era.
Going through the sales chart of January, the following categories have made it to the top 10 selling cars list.
Hatchback
Bound to be the most selling segment; hatchbacks have once again proven to be the core value for car manufacturers. Ruled by Maruti Suzuki; January sales are no different. WagonR topping the sales chart by 20,334 units is followed by sibling products i.e. Swift & Dzire. Although, Dzire falls in to the category of compact-sedan. Top 3 cars are from Maruti itself indicating the customer inclination towards the brand.
Apart from these, Maruti Suzuki Alto is another hatchback that has made progress as compared to the previous month sales. Ranking at 5; Alto has managed to fetch 12,342 buyers all over India.
SUVs
As expected, the SUV segment has become another core area of development & sales for carmakers. Tata Nexon C-SUV holding a strong position of 4 by selling 13,816 units; has proved the potential of Indian car buyers towards SUVs. Being the best-selling car for Tata itself Nexon is on a spree of breaking records for the Indian manufacturer. 5-star safety ratings and a combination of efficient & powerful engine options have made Nexon very desirable among customers.
Another rocket that has been set off by Tata is the newly launched Punch micro-SUV. Mouth watering sticker price, efficient & powerful engine options combined with high ground clearance have made Punch an instant hit. Tata managed to sell 10,027 units of the newly launched car pan India.
Apart from Tata; Hyundai Venue & KIA Seltos have also found a good number of buyers. While KIA sold a good amount of 11,483 units of Seltos, Hyundai has managed to fetch 11,377 units sales for January 2022. The South Korean giant offers premium quality along with some segment-first features which attract a lot of buyers.
Sedans
As well known, the sedan craze from India has faded away to a very extent. Blame it on the C-SUV segment or the road conditions but only Maruti Suzuki has managed to sell Dzire in an amount to make it in the top-selling cars list. Maruti has managed to dispatch a total of 14,967 domestic units of the Dzire.
MPV
Apart from hatchbacks & SUVs; the MPV segment has also managed to mark its presence in the top-selling charts. Maruti is the only manufacturer which has managed to sell Ertiga & ECCO people movers in good volumes. With 11,847 units sold; Ertiga has even managed to sell more than the KIA Seltos & Hyundai Venue.
