French automaker Citroen is the latest entrant to the mass market segment in India, and they have a strategy to leave its mark. The C series seems to be doing a decent job for them. After the Citroen C3 hatchback, it penetrated the EV segment with its electric incarnation, the Citroen eC3. Just a few days back, the C3 Aircross, a 7-seater, Creta rival made its Global debut here in India. If you thought that was it, it wasn't. Fresh spy shots of an electric Aircross are out, and it is already out on-road testing.

The 7-seater electric SUV, when launched, will have some serious rivalry on the cards. But first, let's get into what we know so far.

Citroen C3 Aircross Gearing Up To Go Electric

The launch of the C3 Aircross saw the interest of the company to launch a 7-seater electric SUV. Now, the same can be seen testing out on roads, which is very much the progression of Aircross for the eC3. The test mule confirms the size and footprint of the Aircross. But there are elements that suggest something different.

The rear of this test mule gives away the impression of its battery placement and capacity. Since it is visible at the back of the test mule, it is likely to come with a bigger battery size than the 29.2 kWh unit found on the eC3. This also makes sense as the size is on the bigger side as well. It could possibly get a 40 kWh battery like that of Tata Nexon which uses a 40.5 kWh unit.

What To Expect Inside The Cabin

Although no picture of the interior is out as of now, it will borrow the cabin from the ICE Aircross. With some EV-specific changes, other tech and layout will continue. Exactly like how the eC3 adapted from the C3 hatchback. The Aircross comes with features like a 10.2 touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a digital drivers display, and steering-mounted controls. This new electric mover will replicate these inside its cabin as well.

On top of these, it could offer the same 5 and 7-seater modular layout, which will be a game changer in the electric segment in its price category. Since it will compete with the Creta EV that was spotted at a charging station, it is expected to be priced below the Rs. 20 lakh mark. Also, Citroen is already known for the competitive pricing that it offers.

VERDICT - After the eC3, this could possibly be christened as the eC3 Aircross which makes the most sense right now, going by the pattern that Citroen is following. But with Creta Electric lined up as well, the battle will be an uphill task. It would be interesting to see how these two will fare against each other in pricing and also their mass appeal.
