Hero Mavrick 440, set to debut on January 23, shares its platform with the Harley-Davidson X440. Hero Mavrick 440 - New Details

Unlike the Harley-Davidson X440, Hero Motocorp seems to be going for a distinctive aesthetic here. The new details that have been uncovered provide a clearer picture of the differences between the Harley-Davidson X440 and the Mavrick 440. In contrast to the X440's blacked-out and circular exhaust pipe, the Mavrick 440 boasts a two-tone exhaust pipe with a stylish silver end cap. The exhaust pipe appears ready for production, as does the intricate alloy wheel design.

The Mavrick 440 distinguishes itself from the H-D X440 with its curvier side panels, contrasting the slanted ones on the H-D X440. Noticeably, the tail light is circular, deviating from the rounded-rectangular design of the H-D X440. Another noticeable difference lies in the elevated positioning of the rear mud-guard and the presence of a shorter fender at the front. These subtle design elements contribute to the unique look of the Mavrick 440 when compared to the Harley.

Looking at these design elements, it's interesting to note how the Mavrick 440 goes for a classic look with its round tank and subtle fairing bits, while the Harley-Davidson X440 embraces a more modern feel with its squarish tank design. The Mavrick 440 features a conventional telescopic fork, while its counterpart, the H-D X440, opts for a USD fork.

Hero Motocorp has crafted a powerful 440cc engine for both the Harley-Davidson X440 and their upcoming Mavrick model. This engine is expected to provide a robust performance, boasting around 27 bhp and 38 nm of torque. While there might be some tweaks in the gear ratios for the Mavrick, the sound of the exhaust, as revealed by Hero, is remarkably similar to the iconic deep bass thump of the Harley X440.

The new model aims to be a strong contender against the Royal Enfield Classic 350, with an attractive starting price of Rs 2 lakh.

Verdict

The Hero Maverick 440 promises a unique blend of style and power, challenging its Harley counterpart with distinct design elements and potentially a more appealing price point. As it ventures into the cruiser segment, its success may hinge on offering a compelling alternative to established players, notably the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
