Honda City 5th Gen Facelift Spied - Testing for Another Shot

The Honda City 5th generation's second facelift has been spotted testing in Brazil, and the images reveal the rear profile of the car in a fully camouflaged form. This development is quite interesting, as the City received a major facelift in 2023, and the market was expecting an all-new generation by 2027, given that the current fifth-gen model has already been around for over six years. Honda City

The Honda City facelift was launched in India in 2023, bringing features like Level 2 ADAS, a wireless charging pad, and E20-compliant engines, along with several cosmetic updates. Now, new images have surfaced online showing the same-generation City covered in camouflage, likely to conceal potential changes. However, overall, the car appears largely unchanged in these photos. If this turns out to be true, the updated City could arrive by 2027 with further improvements that may help it regain its strong appeal in the segment.

Apart from the expected cosmetic and feature updates, this car really needs a new powertrain - preferably a turbocharged one. Most of its rivals already offer turbo-petrol engines, which deliver a noticeably more engaging performance compared to the current 1.5L i-VTEC, and thats what is drawing buyers towards them.

Additionally, a new transmission option like a torque converter or a DCT would be a welcome move, as the CVT doesn't fully satisfy driving enthusiasts. That said, its still too early to comment on the exact changes, especially since the test mule was spotted in Brazil. However, an interesting point to note is that the same India-spec model is also sold there, so there could be a strong overlap in what we eventually see here.
