Mahindra Thar 2WD Gets A Fresh RWD Badging For Identity- Check Pics

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Mahindra Thar 2WD gets a new RWD badging
  • A move to impart a distinct identity
  • Thar available in both 4X4 and 4X2 variants

After getting a more affordable 2WD variant of the off-road SUV, the Mahindra Thar, the carmaker has added a distinctive feature to the 2WD version. Since its launch, the place where 4X4 badging once appeared was left blank. Now in place of the empty spacing, a fresh RWD badging can be seen. This would reduce the slapping of a 4X4 badge on the more affordable version, which the 4X4 owners found annoying.

Check out the pictures of the latest addition to the RWD variant of Thar.

Mahindra Thar Gets A New RWD Badge

The pictures display the new RWD plate on the side of the Mahindra Thar RWD variants. Since both vehicles are exactly similar on the outside, it was practically impossible to call out the difference. Meanwhile, the blank space made it super easy to slap on a 4X4 aftermarket badging. This was also a pain point for the owners who shelled out more for the extra capable version of the Mahindra off-roader.

It can still be replaced by aftermarket badging, but at least that isn't the case right off the bat. This is both good and bad news, depending on who you are!

Mahindra Thar Engine Specs

Mahindra Thar is offered in 2 diesel engines and 1 petrol engine option. Talking first about the 1.5-liter diesel engine, it puts out 118 PS power with a torque of 300Nm. On the other hand, the 2.2-liter diesel unit is good for 130 PS with a torque of 300 Nm. Coming to the sole 2.0-liter petrol unit, it produces 150 PS with a peak torque of 320 Nm.

VERDICT- Since a new badge is now on the RWD variant, right out of the showrooms, people will recognize which version is it. While it is a joy for some people, others might be a little less entertained. A third section of buyers, just don't care. What do You think of this move? Do share your thoughts.
