The latest spy images corroborate the previous speculations since Mahindra's announcement of the five-door Thar in 2021. The upcoming model will retain the same styling elements while featuring new wheel designs and, of course, an extended length. Based on historical trends, Mahindra's longer models typically measure between 4.3 meters to 4.4 meters, and we anticipate the five-door LWB (Long Wheelbase) Thar to follow suit

Both petrol and diesel variants are likely to come with 4WD, as the off-road capabilities are a vital aspect of the Thar's appeal, making it unlikely that Mahindra will offer an RWD-only configuration for the long-wheelbase Thar.

The Thar 5-door is expected to receive some design tweaks, including a relatively new grille and bumpers. Inside, updates might include a refreshed dashboard layout, new upholstery, and more storage spaces. Additional features like a center armrest, a bigger infotainment system, and enhanced storage options could further enhance the driving experience.

Launch Timeline

Since Mahindra has confirmed that there are no new launches in 2023, you can expect to see this sometime in 2024. This puts the speculations of an August 2023 launch to rest. It could land in the first half of 2024 with a starting price of around Rs. 17-18 lakh mark ex-showroom.
