While it's the usual affair with the Mahindra Thar 5 Door to be rolling on the streets with everything that we knew about it, this time around, that wasn't the case. While you can notice the already-known longer wheelbase, the sunroof, alloys, the distinct front grille, LED headlamps, and whatnot, it is the back of the vehicle that piques our interest. Well, you might be familiar with how heavily the 3-door Thar is being modified by its owners, Mahindra Thar 5 Door will make that redundant to a great extent.
While we know that the headlamp units will offer a unique pattern, the tail lamps will follow suit with a distinct structured pattern that is a stark upgrade over the current 3-door model. However, not only this, you can notice a chunky spare wheel cover on the tailgate, which is something the Thar 5 Door reveals this time around. This partial covering adds character to the overall rugged appeal of the vehicle, making it a bit more interesting than the 3-door Thar.
Interior And Features
Recent sightings have showcased a range of Thar variants, spanning from entry-level models with steel wheels to mid and top-tier versions likely equipped with alloy wheels. Spy shots of test mules have also revealed varying configurations, including models with single-pane or dual-pane sunroofs. Noteworthy features expected in the upcoming model include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and a comprehensive LED lighting setup. Additional anticipated amenities comprise dual-zone climate control, cruise control, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, and ISOFIX child-seat anchors. A standout feature will be the Level 2 ADAS capabilities, which may include Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keep Assist.

Powertrain Options
The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5 Door is set to introduce a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine, mirroring the configuration of the existing 3-door Thar RWD model. This 1.5-liter diesel engine, which currently delivers 117hp and 300Nm of torque in the Thar 3-door variant, is anticipated to serve as the entry-level engine choice across the lineup, albeit with slight adjustments for its larger counterpart. Meanwhile, higher trim levels are expected to offer more powerful options such as the 175hp 2.2-liter diesel and the 203hp 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engines, akin to those featured in the Scorpio N model series.
