Mercedes-Benz CLA

The CLA 200 'Standard Range' has been introduced after Mercedes-Benz received feedback from potential buyers seeking a more affordable entry point into the brand's new-generation electric sedan lineup. This variant offers a claimed driving range of 542 km, while the higher-spec CLA 250+ 'Long Range' boasts an impressive 792 km range on a full charge. Despite the difference in battery capacity and range, Mercedes-Benz states that the equipment levels across both variants will remain largely similar, ensuring customers receive a high level of technology and features as standard.

The CLA 200 'Standard Range' will feature Progressive Line styling, which includes comfort seats, a multifunction sports leather steering wheel, and two interior trim options. The CLA 250+ 'Long Range', on the other hand, will be offered with the sportier AMG Line package.
Charging Speed

Both variants are built on an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging capabilities. Using a 240 kW DC fast charger, the CLA 250+ can add up to 400 km of range in just 20 minutes, while the CLA 200 can gain around 320 km of range in the same time. Mercedes-Benz also highlighted its growing charging ecosystem in India, with access to more than 9,000 charging points through MB.CHARGE Public, aimed at reducing range anxiety for EV owners.
The electric sedan will also feature MBUX Intelligent Navigation, which can guide drivers to charging stations and optimise charging stops during long journeys. For home charging, customers can purchase the Mercedes-Benz Wall Box charger, capable of delivering up to 22 kW charging power, at a price of Rs. 50,000 including installation. Buyers who pre-book the CLA BEV will receive this wall box charger complimentary.
In terms of pricing, the CLA 200 'Standard Range' is expected to have a tentative ex-showroom price of around Rs. 55 lakh, while the CLA 250+ 'Long Range' is expected to cost approximately Rs. 59 lakh. The German giant notes that final prices may vary depending on foreign exchange rates at the time of launch, which is scheduled for mid-April 2026.
Verdict
With the addition of the CLA 200 'Standard Range', Mercedes-Benz is clearly aiming to broaden the appeal of its upcoming electric sedan in India. By offering two range options, strong charging capabilities, and a growing public charging ecosystem, the all-new CLA BEV could become one of the most compelling entry points into the brand's electric portfolio.
