MG iM6

This fast-back styled electric SUV has an unmistakably Chinese EV presence, as one can easily figure out the origin of the design just by plain looks. It's massive, curvaceous, and somehow its rear profile would remind you of dolphins and the Tesla Model Y. It is equipped with a giganturous 100 kWh battery pack, and it has 751 hp. It does 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. The range on its official site is 725 km, based on the WLTP cycle.

MG is expected to position the iM6 as a flagship electric SUV in India, likely sitting above most of its current EV lineup in terms of pricing and technology. It will be brought in as a CKD unit and sold through MG's premium MG-Select retail network, which is being developed specifically for high-end products like the Cyberster and M9.

In terms of competition, the iM6 will take on global electric SUVs like the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6, but with a stronger focus on performance and tech. With features like an advanced 800V architecture, ultra-fast charging capabilities, and a heavily tech-loaded cabin, MG is clearly aiming to establish a new premium EV benchmark in the Indian market.

Although the international website shows its two variants - long range and performance - in India, only one variant might come, as this is the trend going on here for premium cars. Here, the long-range one will arrive, with a 725 km city range and a 555 km combined range.

Verdict
The MG iM6 looks like a serious statement of intent from MG in the premium EV space. It brings together bold design, massive performance figures, and long-range capability - all of which align well with what the evolving Indian EV buyer is starting to expect.
That said, its success will depend heavily on pricing and positioning. If MG manages to keep it competitive while leveraging the MG-Select experience, the iM6 could carve out a strong niche for itself among tech-focused, premium EV buyers. In simple terms, the iM6 isn't just another electric SUV - it's MG's attempt to redefine its brand image in India.
