The next-generation Maruti Alto will feature a Dualjet petrol engine for improved refinement and performance
Maruti Suzuki recently launched the second generation of the Celerio. The company claims the new model to be one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the market. To further update its product portfolio, the company is planning to launch new versions of Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Alto next year.
The second-gen Brezza is expected to hit the markets by early 2022 whereas the third-gen Alto is expected to be launched around the festive season in October next year. The upcoming new-gen Alto has even been spotted testing, thereby confirming that its fast approaching the final stages of development.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto has been its carmaker's most affordable car and has pretty much conquered the entry-level car market. With its upcoming model, the company is planning to come up with a more appealing package to maintain its numero uno status in the market. The new car will reportedly feature a Dualjet engine for better performance with higher refinement. Also, there will be comprehensive changes in the design language and features list of the car. Even the platform on which the car is built is expected to be upgraded to a more modern one
As the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto that was recently spotted looked quite similar to the existing one, the upcoming model is expected to carry an evolutionary design that would carry a familiar look whilst looking more modern. On glancing at the front, rear and side profile of the car that was spied, it has been established that it will come equipped with a new honeycomb front grille, bigger headlights and more stylish front and rear bumpers.
The next-gen model is expected to get a bit bigger while several elements like the headlamps will also grow in size. The lighting fixtures will come integrated with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the top-end trims. At the tail-end, the car could feature square-ish taillamps reminiscent of the Maruti 800.
Even the interior of the car will look and feel a lot better. It will feature a touchscreen infotainment system that would be compatible with AndroidAuto and Apple CarPlay. Also, the instrument cluster will be a semi-digital unit. On the top-end trims, there is a possibility of having steering mounted audio and telephone controls, dual airbags and keyless entry. This version could even get a push-button start/stop system.
Talking about the engine specs, it might be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder K10C Dualjet engine that is installed in the latest Celerio. This engine will churn out 47bhp of maximum power and 69 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a manual and automatic gearbox.
