Nissan Gravite: Compact MPV Launching on January 21

The Nissan Gravite is positioned as an affordable, sub-4-metre, three-row MPV aimed squarely at budget-conscious family buyers. Scheduled to arrive on January 21, the Gravite will slot into a space currently dominated by models such as the Renault Triber and Maruti Ertiga, offering flexibility and seating capacity in a compact footprint. While Nissan has so far revealed only partial teaser images showing the front and rear design, the Gravite is expected to share much of its mechanical and structural DNA with the Renault Triber. This means a lightweight, cost-efficient platform focused on practicality, ease of ownership, and urban usability.

Feature expectations include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a six-speaker audio setup, six airbags, a rear parking camera, and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), keeping it competitive on safety and convenience. Under the hood, the Gravite is likely to use the familiar 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with manual and AMT gearbox options. There is also speculation that Nissan could introduce a turbo-petrol alternative later on to broaden its appeal and add performance differentiation in the segment. The Nissan Gravite is expected to be priced aggressively, with estimates starting at around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a strong contender in the entry-level MPV space. In terms of competition, the Gravite will go up against the Renault Triber, Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6, and Kia Carens.

Nissan Tekton: Global Reveal on February 4, 2026

Following closely behind the Gravite, Nissan will globally unveil the Tekton on February 4, 2026. This upcoming compact SUV will operate in one of India's most hotly contested segments, where established players such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos now face fresh competition from newer entrants like the Tata Sierra and Maruti Victoris. Design teasers suggest that the Tekton will bring in with a bold stance and upright proportions. Although Nissan has not yet disclosed technical specifications, the Tekton is expected to be well-equipped with modern features and multiple powertrain options to match evolving customer expectations. Its India launch is expected later in 2026, following the global reveal. The Tekton, positioned higher up the ladder, could see starting prices in the region of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict

With the Nissan Gravite launch confirmed for January 21 and the Tekton global reveal following in early February, 2026 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Nissan in India. The Gravite addresses the need for an affordable, family-focused people-mover, while the Tekton targets the lucrative compact SUV segment. If Nissan manages competitive pricing, strong feature packaging, and timely deliveries, these launches could mark the beginning of a much-needed revival for the brand in the Indian market.
