Tata Motors has officially launched the Sierra EV. After reviving one of the most iconic nameplates in Indian automotive history with the Sierra ICE, it is now time for the fully electric SUV. Built on Tata's dedicated EV architecture (acti.ev platform), the Sierra EV blends nostalgia with modern electric performance, aiming squarely at buyers who want range, technology, and road presence in equal measure.

The Sierra EV retains the silhouette that made the original a cult favourite, but everything underneath is new. The front gets a closed-off grille, a clear EV signature flanked by an LED light bar that runs across the fascia, along with all-LED lighting throughout. Revised bumpers and fresh skid plates give it a slightly rugged stance, while new dual-tone alloy wheels and black roof rails add visual flair.
Flush-fitting door handles improve aerodynamics, while black-finished ORVMs paired with glossy black body cladding lend the SUV a contemporary, premium look. A shark-fin antenna rounds off the roofline, while Tata EV badging on the front doors and a charging port neatly integrated into the left rear fender confirm its electric identity at a glance.
Performance
The Sierra EV is offered with two LFP battery pack options: 63 kWh and 75 kWh. It is a QWD (Quad Wheel Drive/AWD), Tata's all-wheel-drive system, for improved traction and performance.
Tata claims a 665 km range for the larger 75 kWh battery pack, while the expected real-world range is around 520 km. The smaller 63 kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of 565 km, with a real-world range of approximately 450 km. These figures make the Sierra EV a strong contender in the electric SUV segment.
Specification | 63 kWh Variant | 75 kWh Variant |
|---|---|---|
Drivetrain | QWD (Quad Wheel Drive/AWD)* | QWD (Quad Wheel Drive/AWD)* |
Claimed Range | 565 km | 665 km |
Expected Real-World Range | Up to 450 km | Up to 520 km |
The vehicle also comes packed with the Boost Mode to deliver an extra surge of power for quicker overtakes and spirited driving. It has 6 Terrain Modes (Snow, Mud, Sand, Rock Crawl, Custom) as well.
The Sierra EV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds, making it one of the quickest electric SUVs in the Indian market.
Charging
Tata claims the Sierra EV can add up to 263 km of range in just 15 minutes using a DC fast charger with the larger battery pack. The smaller battery pack can add up to 238 km of range in the same 15-minute charging session.
The Sierra EV supports multiple charging options, including a 120 kW DC fast charger, a 7.2 kW AC home charger, and a 3.3 kW portable charger. Using the 120 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
The illuminated charging ring uses different colours to indicate the vehicle's charging status, making it easy to monitor at a glance.
The Sierra EV also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality of up to 3.3 kW and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging of up to 5 kW.
Interior
Step inside, and the Sierra EV is packed with comfort, technology, and eco-friendly materials. It gets leatherette upholstery, a 6-way powered driver's seat with memory and welcome function, and a 4-way powered front passenger seat.
A triple-screen layout dominates the dashboard, paired with a two-spoke steering wheel featuring a backlit Tata EV logo -a nice touch that reflects the brand's EV-first design language. The cabin also gets ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and a cooled glovebox, ensuring comfort even during long drives in Indian summers.
Comfort and Convenience
Practical features include Type-C fast charging ports for both front and rear passengers, a wireless mobile charger, and an auto-dimming IRVM. The Sierra EV also comes equipped with connected car technology, allowing owners to remotely access various vehicle functions, along with a 360-degree camera for easier manoeuvring in tight spaces. A panoramic sunroof completes the premium cabin experience, making the interior feel even more spacious and airy.
The Sierra EV offers a generous 622-litre boot space along with a 55-litre frunk, adding to its practicality. It also comes equipped with an air purifier and a 12-speaker JBL Black audio system with Dolby Atmos, delivering a premium in-cabin entertainment experience.
