Tata Sierra EV Spotted Testing Again: What We Know So Far

Recent video footage gives us a glimpse of the Tata Sierra test mule navigating through city traffic. Despite being heavily camouflaged, a few key design elements were noticeable. The front fascia features a connected LED light bar spanning the entire width, accompanied by a set of headlamps positioned lower on the bumper, adding to its aggressive stance. The bumper design appears sporty, further hinting at the SUV's premium appeal. The exterior silhouette of the Sierra stays true to its concept roots, bold, boxy, and distinctly SUV-like. Squared-off wheel arches, sculpted sides, and stylish alloy wheels give it an unmistakably rugged appeal. Tata seems to be preserving much of the design showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo, which is likely a good move, given the overwhelmingly positive response from the public and media.

Inside, the Sierra is expected to feature a high-tech layout. Previous spy images and prior showcases confirm a tri-screen setup, likely including a digital instrument cluster, infotainment system, and a third screen for the co-passenger. Other shared components from the Tata family include a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo. While the centre console and dash remain under wraps, elements from the Harrier and Safari are expected to carry over. Also anticipated are modern conveniences like integrated Amazon Alexa support, entertainment apps, a 540-degree camera, e-IRVM with inbuilt dashcam, and Level 2 ADAS.

Powertrain Options: Electric and Combustion Choices
While the electric version of the Sierra takes center stage and also likely to launch earlier, Tata is also working on ICE variants. The Sierra is expected to offer a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel option. Interestingly, Tata might also introduce a naturally aspirated petrol motor derived from the turbo-petrol unit, aimed at better fuel economy. These combustion versions are expected to be built on the modular ATLAS platform, which supports AWD and could mark Tata's return to the 4x4 segment, something long-awaited by off-road enthusiasts.
Verdict
With each new sighting, the Tata Sierra edges closer to production, and everything points toward a serious contender in both EV and ICE segments. A rugged design, modern tech-packed interiors, diverse powertrain options, and a likely 4x4 system make the Sierra an exciting prospect. Whether it launches later this year or in early 2026, the Sierra looks poised to be a landmark model in Tata's SUV evolution, blending nostalgia with next-gen ambition.
