Bajaj Pulsar N160 Detailed Review

Design 10

The brand-new Bajaj Pulsar N160 presents us with a completely new appearance, a styled body, and a chassis made of tubular steel. Beginning at the front, the headlamps include an LED projector in addition to daytime running LEDs. No one could reasonably miss the bike's robotic visage, which commands attention on the road. The conventional pulsar's usual body configuration has undergone significant evolution. Bajaj calls the new instrument console the infinity display since there are no discernible bezels on it. It has a nice appearance and a retro vibe thanks to its analog rev counter with a digital section. The overall design of the Pulsar N160 has been carried forward from its bigger sibling i.e. the Pulsar N250. The N160 embraces a premium appeal to its design.

When viewed from the side instead of the typical perimeter frame, the brand has used plastic paneling to give it a tubular steel frame. The mono-shock suspension, the first in the Pulsar series to use it, is supported by a tubular steel frame. The majority of the emission equipment is concealed, and the exhaust appears tidy and modest. The taillights are brand-new, and the back edge is crisp.

Summary

The new Pulsar N160 boasts an entirely new aerodynamic frame and exudes a sleek, refined, and athletic vibe.

Engine & Performance 8

A new 164.82 cc SOHC, 2-valve oil-cooled engine that develops 16 PS at 8750 rpm and 14.65 Nm at 6750 rpm powers the Bajaj Pulsar N160. Compared to its predecessor, the NS160, the power output has somewhat decreased but the torque output has significantly increased. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, a competitor, has identical power and torque numbers. A 5-speed constant mesh gearbox serves as the new N160's transmission. Additionally, according to Bajaj, the new engine can deliver 85% of its maximum power and torque over a wider rpm range. In addition, they assert that the Pulsar has the fastest acceleration from 30 to 70 km/h in gears 3 and 4. There is ample of low-end and mid-range torque that makes the N160 a solid performer in its segment. However, if you look for top-end whack; the N160 disappoints at it.

Summary

With its robust mid-range and decent torque dispersion, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 comfortably ranks among one of the powerful performers in the Pulsar lineup.

Tyres And Brakes 9

The front and rear tyres on the Pulsar N160 are 100/80-17 and 130/70-17, respectively. The two tyres are tubeless types. In the dual-channel ABS variant, the front suspension consists of a 37 mm telescopic fork, while in the single-channel ABS variant, it consists of a 31 mm telescopic fork. On both models, the monoshock is in charge of the rear suspension. In the dual-channel ABS version, the front 300 mm disc is responsible for braking. A 280 mm front disc is included with the single-channel ABS version. Both variations continue to share a 230 mm rear disc. The ABS provides more stability while braking in sudden situations. The overall setup of the tyres and brakes of N160 leads to very confidence-inspiring handling. The rider triangle of the bike also helps in the commendable riding position while the brake bites are supremely efficient.

Summary

The Bajaj Pulsar N250 comes with a lot of features. The dual-channel ABS increases the effectiveness of the braking and the tyres and brakes are fairly powerful.

Dimensions 8

The wheelbase of the N160 is 1358 mm in terms of measurements. The rider's seat height is 795 mm, and the ground clearance is 165 mm. The N160 has a 14-liter fuel tank, which should once more allow the bike to have a respectable range on a full tank of fuel. Weighting 154 kg is the dual-channel ABS variant N160. This weighs in at 154 kg, which is 2 kg heavier than the single-channel ABS version. The overall dimensions of the N160 are big and beautiful. As it has been based largely on the N250, its size and width remain one of the biggest in the segment.

Summary

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 appears to be a small bike, yet it has similar dimensions to other models in this class.
