Toyota Kirloskar Motors luxury brand undertaking, Lexus, is all set to introduce electric powertrains in India. Lexus is the premium arm of Toyota which kick-started its options to the Indian homelands in the year 2019 and currently retails seven different models along with hybrid powertrains. One of the offerings, the Lexus ES 300h is the sedan that is locally produced in India. Here we have the news for the upcoming Lexus Electric Cars in India!

Lexus India is ready to gear up to drive in to the electric powertrain segment in India and has elaborated its strategies. The company has shortlisted a cluster of 12 cities all across the country to open Lexus Service Points (LSPs). Lexus has plans to open three more retail sales outlets at Chennai, Cochin and Chandigarh within the next two months across the country and plan to conquer 56 per cent of the mass luxury mobility segment along with an online retail portal. With the presence of the brand in our country, they aim to look towards their growth in India to consolidate sales network and drive in new models with a fully electric powertrain.
The Toyota Kirloskar Lexus Group is well known for its self charging hybrid vehicles and is now getting inclined towards pure electric powertrains due to the growth of this segment over the recent years. Thus, the brand plans to evaluate the feasibility of the performance of fully electric powertrains in harsh Indian climatic conditions.
Lexus globally aims to electrify its entire lineup latest by 2035 with its mission towards green mobility. So as to accomplish this sim, the brand has now imported a few electric vehicles (UX) from Japan to test these vehicles in extreme climatic conditions in heat and dust with respect to battery retaining capacity. It would be difficult for the brand to manufacture in India keeping aside the CBU route (Completely Built Unit), however, they would surely look into the factors after receiving significant volumes with a threshold of at least 32,000 to 35,000 units per annum, thus would focus on a CKD route (Completely Knocked Down Unit).
