Hyundai Motor India has witnessed phenomenal success in terms of sales in India for the last two years. Their SUVs in particular have been a great hit with the Indian mass, especially the Creta and the Venue. For reference, Hyundai sold 1.8 lakh SUVs in 2020 and dispatched 2.52 lakh SUVs in 2021. Of which, there was 1.25 lakh Creta units and 1.08 lakh Venue units, in 2021 alone.
To maintain this momentum, Hyundai will give both the Creta and Venue critical facelifts in 2022. Its premium electric SUV, the Ioniq 5 is also scheduled for launch in India, along with the next-generation Tucson, and the updated Kona EV. Find out the details and pictures of these upcoming Hyundai SUVs below.

The 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift was first showcased at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021. It now features a new exterior design that is in line with Hyundais Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy, which brings it on par with the next-generation Tucson, as far as looks are concerned. The front fascia will receive a new parametric jewel pattern grille with integrated LED DRLs, and rectangular-shaped LED headlamps. The revised bumpers now get a slimmer air inlet with silver faux skid plates, along with dual-tone alloys, and redesigned LED taillights.
The 2022 Creta facelift also gets Advanced Driver Assists System, which will be available with the top-spec models here in India. Engine options for the Indian-spec Creta model are yet to be confirmed, but we are hoping it will be the 1.5-litre N.A petrol unit.
Expected Price: Rs. 7 lakh onwards
The Cretas launch will be followed by the Venue, which will also feature Hyundais Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy. Besides, the sub-compact SUV in its facelift always has an exterior design similar to the bigger Creta. The 2022 Venue will also get its N-line variant which will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol variant.
Expected Price: Rs. 23.75 Lakh
The Hyundai Kona Electric received its first mid-life update in November 2020, and that model is slated to launch here in India in 2022. The 2022 Kona EV will feature an updated front fascia with the complete removal of the grille. The interior will also feature a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as standard along with a new 10.25 infotainment screen as well.
Hyundais BlueLink connectivity will also be updated, but mechanically it will remain the same. The Indian-spec 2022 Kona will be powered by the 39.2 kWh battery that helps produce 136 hp and 304 km of range.
Expected Price: Rs. 25.00 lakh onwards
The Hyundai Tucson is expected to arrive in 2022, however, we cannot specify the exact time of the year. The Korean automaker has been testing the next-generation model, which is already on sale in Europe and America. The new Tucson features Hyundai Sensuous Sportiness Design Philosophy, which gets you a unique parametric jewel pattern grille with integrated LEDs and DRLs. The Indian-spec 2022 Tucson will be available either in a hybrid or plug-in hybrid model. The former will equip a 1.6-litre inline-four turbo engine alongside a 44.2 kW electric motor i.e attached to a 1.49 kWh battery pack. The PHEV model will feature the same turbo inline-four engine, but along with a bigger 13.8 kWh battery and 66. kW electric motor.
Expected Price: Rs. 30 lakh onwards
The Ioniq 5 is a pure-electric SUV that is built around Hyundais dedicated BEV architecture, called Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This platform also underpins other Ioniq models, like the Ioniq 7 and the upcoming Ioniq 6. As of now, Hyundai will only launch the Ioniq 5 in India with a premium price tag. The Ioniq 5 comes with two battery options - 72.6 kWh and 58 kWh, with both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive layouts. The bigger battery is good for 470-580 kms of range, and chances are India will get this option. With this battery pack, the Ioniq 5 puts out 306 bhp and 605 Nm of torque, and it can reach from 0-100 kmph in just 5.2 seconds.
