It is combustion vs electric time yet again, as the Ultraviolette X47 goes up against the KTM 250 Adventure in this comparison. The 250 Adventure was launched in its new-gen version earlier this year, while Ultraviolette has just launched its first electric ADV which, according to the manufacturer, is meant to do anything you ask of it. So, ADV, right?

Ultraviolette X47 Vs KTM 250 Adventure Design

ultraviolette x47

The X47 bears influences of a certain Italian adventure-tourer, and that's not really a bad thing, as it also blends in Ultraviolette's design language that gives it a modern and sharp look. The headlamp section appears similar to what we have seen on the F77, and the silhouette is also edgy and sharp. It isn't unless you look closely that you see a battery pack where a combustion engine should be. That said, the X47 looks apt for a modern-day adventure tourer, while also keeping an eye on the future.

Meanwhile, the 250 Adventure bears resemblance to its bigger sibling, and more specifically it looks like the road-biased 390 Adventure X. The design language is in line with the newer-generation 390 Adventure, with similar body panels. It does feel a step up compared to the previous-gen 250, which did look a bit too similar to its big brother, save for the headlights.

For obvious reasons, things are rather interesting here. The X47 Crossover is available with two battery pack options: a 7.1 kWh pack that delivers an IDC range of 211 km, and a larger 10.3 kWh pack offering an extended range of 323 km. The 10.3kWh version generates 39 and delivers an impressive 610 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-60kmph in a claimed 2.7 seconds and reaches 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds, with a top speed of 145 km/h. There is really no way to comment on how it actually performs, but considering how the F77 runs, we can expect a similar experience from the X47.

Meanwhile, the 250 Adventure borrows its powertrain from the 250 Duke; a 249cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 30.5bhp at 9250rpm and 25Nm of torque at 7250rpm. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, the 250 Adventure can also be equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter optionally. This is known to be one of the most well-balanced units in the KTM lineup, and it doesn't make you work too hard through the gearbox in daily traffic conditions.

Ultraviolette X47 Vs KTM 250 Adventure Features

ultraviolette x47

The X47 has become unique in this particular category. It introduces a radar-based ADAS system called UV Hypersense, along with parallel charging, which allows two chargers to be connected at the same time for quicker charging sessions. Another practical addition is the option of integrated dual dashcams with dual displays, available as official accessoriessomething not seen before in this segment. Furthermore, it offers nine levels of regen braking and three traction control modes.

Meanwhile, the 250 Advenure comes with the familiar 5-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, music streaming, ride-by-wire, off-road ABS, off-road riding mode, adjustable footpegs, and a USB type-C port among other things.

Verdict

The X47 and the 250 Adventure are priced rather closely. With the X47 costing Rs 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom), it does come with the promise of things that never been seen before on a motorcycle at all. However, the 250 Adventure is priced at Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom), which definitely comes with all that is needed.
