2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid Facelift Unveiled Globally; India Launch Next Year?

Toyota Camry is a very popular car in the global markets. The Camry is the entry-level luxury sedan from the house of this Japanese car manufacturer. While in India, the Camry was launched just two years ago, it has been on sale in the global markets for quite some time now. So, the company has given this eco-friendly sedan a mid-life update to make it look fresher and also a better-equipped car in terms of technology and features. The new 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid Facelift has been unveiled in Europe and here we have for you all the details about it.

The new facelifted Camry Hybrid doesn't sport any major changes. It gets subtle cosmetic updates inside and out and also, some new features have been added. Talking about the design changes, so at the front one can see that it gets a revised grille. The upper section of the grille is now slimmer and the lower section gets some minor changes. The front bumper of the car has also been tweaked a little bit and the bottom half of the grille gets flanked by silver accents on either side. The Camry Hybrid gets very slim all-LED headlights with a projector set-up, LED DRLs and LED fog lamps.

Being a hybrid car, the Toyota Camry gets an illuminated blue-coloured logo and also subtle chrome inserts. The side profile of the sedan remains almost the same as the pre-lift model. However, it does get new 17-inch and 18-inch machined-cut dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the new facelifted Camry gets some minor tweaks and newly refreshed inserts for the LED taillamps. Also, it gets a new colour scheme for the exterior called Deep Metal Grey. Now, moving to the interior as the major changes are inside the cabin. The new Camry Facelift gets some minor tweaks on the inside and the layout of the dashboard has also been revised.

Taking the centre stage of the Camry Facelift's dashboard is a new floating-type 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which replaces the older 8.0-inch unit. It gets a new interface and is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also gets new premium upholsteries and one can choose between beige or black colour options for the interior. The new facelifted Camry is underpinned by Toyota's New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform and gets Toyota's latest Safety Sense features too. This includes an updated pre-collision system, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, road sign assist, intersection turn assist, and many more.

The mechanicals of the car remains unchanged and the new Camry Facelift is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine that churns out 178 PS of power and 221 Nm of torque. It is assisted by a 160kW electric motor that pumps out 120 PS of power and 202 Nm of torque. The combined power output of this powertrain system stands at 218 PS and it is coupled to a 7-speed e-CVT only. What's further interesting is that the Camry Hybrid can be driven in pure EV mode, in pure ICE mode like a regular car or even as a combination of both. The new 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid Facelift has been currently unveiled in Europe and it is expected to be launched in India next year.

In India, the BS6-compliant Toyota Camry Hybrid was launched earlier this year and recently it got a hefty price hike too. The new 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid is currently priced in India at Rs. 39.02 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi.
