As much as people love the 2021 Isuzu MU-X for its off-road and on-road handling, this mammoth of an SUV does require few updates, hence, people have been on their toes to have a look at the "specs" of the new 2022 Isuzu MU-X. Surprisingly, a preliminary specification sheet of the much anticipated 2022 Isuzu MU-X has been leaked on social media.
The behemoth Isuzu MU-X 2021 has been one of the strongest contenders among the big sea of SUVs that exist in the country. The vehicle has been capable of showcasing a mighty road presence and a stance that attracts attention, however, the design language and aesthetics might hint at a tad of an outdated vibe.
This would not be an issue anymore as the new Isuzu MU-X 2022 might come in three new variants that offer superior features and a premium design as per the leaked spec sheet.
The SUV should be coming in three trim levels and with a choice of 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains. According to the leaked spec sheet, the vehicle gets driver-assist features such as autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-assist system, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert and traffic sign recognition as standard features.
The base or standard model of the 2022 Isuzu MU-X gets 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres of the size 255/65. The standard variant of the Toyota Fortuner on the other hand also gets a similar setup. It gets 17-inch wheels with tyres of the size 265/65 which is a bit wider than the 2022 Isuzu MU-X, however, it does not make that big of a difference.

The 2022 Isuzu MU-X gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, The SUV is equipped with Bi-LED automatic headlights and automatic windscreen wipers. This variant of the MU-X is a strong contender with the likings of the Toyota Fortuner since it gets similar features seen on the 2021 Fortuner 4X2 variant.
Moving on to the mid-range variant of the SUV (LS-U), the MU-X showcases best in class features such as a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets factory-fitted and integrated satellite navigation. This version of the SUV is on par with the new Toyota Fortuner in terms of features since the Fortuner too gets a DA Touch Screen Audio with Capacitive Switches and inbuilt navigation.
The mid-range variant of the SUV also comes equipped with powered lumbar support for the driver, keyless entry and start, powered tailgate, Dual-zone climate control and Roof rails. This shows that the 2022 MU-X is a worth opponent for the Toyota Fortuner.

Finally, we would like to introduce the range-topping LS-T variant of the 2022 Isuzu MU-X. According to the spec sheet, this SUV could feature leather-trimmed seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat with a powered lumbar, four-way power-adjustable passenger seat and 20-inch alloy wheels coupled with 265/50 highway terrain tyres.
As for the drivetrain, the 2022 Isuzu MU-X might come with a 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel with 188 bhp of power and 450Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It could also get a switchable four-wheel drive and low-range feature. A lockable rear differential could be equipped in the 4X4 models of the new MU-X.
The Toyota Fortuner on the other hand gets a power-packed Diesel engine that churns out 201 bhp of power at a peak torque of 500Nm for the automatic variant. The torque figure for the 6-speed manual sticks to 420 Nm only. Toyota Fortuner also gets a 2.7L petrol engine that churns out 164 bhp with 245 Nm of peak torque. It gets a 5-speed manual as standard and an optional 6-speed AT.
It is indeed a close competitor for the Isuzu MU-X in terms of power output. Like the MU-X, the Fortuner too gets a 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain. Also, the 4x4 drivetrain of the Fortuner has a lockable rear differential like the MU-X.
The full Pricing and specification list are yet to come, one can expect even more from this SUV as stated earlier, it is definitely going to be a strong contender with the likings of people who love other SUVs in the segment.
