The news of Maruti Suzuki's latest vehicle, the Maruti WagonR EV has been blooming on the Internet for quite some time now, however, the vehicle was often spotted with camouflage. Not anymore since we present to you the clear images of Maruti's EV or the WagonR EV whose presence has been making EV enthusiasts quite curious.
The establishment of Maruti Suzuki in the country has been a symbolism of Indian pride and honour. The company has been around for more than two decades. With time, it has proven its mark in the Indian subcontinent and now as the Automotive industry is shifting towards a new realm, Maruti has decided to venture into the electric vehicles sector too.
The WagonR EV is its latest electric vehicle which is based on the WagonR platform. The body panels from the side look similar to the WagonR, however, the headlamp and taillamp design make it stand different from the normal WagonR that we see.
The front bumper of the EV has a unique design that resembles the WagonR but the spilt headlamps make it stand out from the regular WagonR. It is quite easy to differentiate between the two vehicles because of their unique design elements. The WagonR EV gets no grill which is obvious, however, it does have an air vent design or air dam situated near the fog lamps. This could be meant for cooling the electric motors.
At first look, the side profiles seem to be similar to the WagonR but the blackened tail lamps and the headlamp units make it easy to differentiate. It also gets black alloy wheels that look identical to the ones seen on the Igins. In addition to this, the side view mirror gets turn light indicators which looks cool too.
From the clear images of the WagonR EV, it is vivid that the rear bumper has been redesigned. It now gets a black cladding that runs across the width of the bumper. There are verticle reflectors integrated into the bumper and the rear taillights are also blackened as mentioned earlier.
Other details regarding the vehicle are yet to be distributed among the media, but one could expect a 200km range from this machine along with fast charging options. From our earlier spy shots, it was clear that this EV gets a multi-function steering wheel along with an automatic climate control system.
However, there was no infotainment system as per the spy shots. We assume that Maruti could be working on an infotainment system that shows battery functions and range. It could be a 7-inch SmartPlay infotainment system, if not, we expect the regular SmartPlay system to be integrated into the dashboard.
