The 2024 Maruti Swift has been launched in India at Rs. 6.49 lakhs e-showroom price with a lot of necessary updates. It is now safer with a pretty robust list of standard safety features, more techy inside the cabin, and a new engine option. Maruti Swift VXi (O) Variant: The Exteriors
The Maruti Swift gets a refreshed front facia retaining its previous charm and associating unique design bits. the grille is now wider and the halogen projector headlamps house the L-shaped chrome strips instead of the LED DRLs found on the higher trims. The Suzuki logo is now repositioned on the bonnet, while another omission you'll see is that of the fog lamps.
Coming to the side profile, the outline will immediately give away that this is a Swift. You get steel wheels with covers instead of alloy wheels with body-colored door handles and the ORVMs with turn indicators. However, an interesting bit to note here is that the rear door handle has been shifted from the window pane to its conventional position. While it may be a polarising debate on where it looks better, we like this one more.
The rear profile looks more or less the same with a refreshed LED tail lamp unit. If you go for the higher variants, you get a rear wiper and washer, which is missing on the Maruti Swift VXi variant.
Interior And Features: A Balanced Affair
Entering the cabin, you are surrounded by a black theme with the dashboard and everything around painted in black. You get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display supporting wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay with an analog instrument cluster.
The feature set is comprehensive, catering to everyday needs with amenities like a 4-speaker sound system, all four power windows, and electrically adjustable ORVMs, complemented by a front USB charging port. Furthermore, it boasts advanced conveniences including a push start-stop button with a smart key, electrically foldable ORVMs, and an array of connected car technology features, distinguishing it from the Vxi variant.
What's most commendable is its safety suite that now includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, 3-point seat belts for all passengers, and hill-hold assist as standard right from the base trim.

Maruti Swift: New Powertrain, Less Cylinders, More Mileage
The 2024 Maruti Swift debuts with a fresh mild-hybrid powertrain, housing a finely tuned 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, Z Series petrol engine capable of producing 81.58 PS power and 112Nm of torque. Offering both 5-speed manual and AMT transmissions, this new engine delivers enhanced fuel efficiency while experiencing a slight decrease in power output. Notably, the AMT version achieves an impressive mileage of 25.75 kmpl, while the manual variant returns 24.80 kmpl, marking a substantial 14% increase for the AMT and a commendable 10% boost for the manual gearbox, appealing strongly to Indian consumers.
The 2024 Swift Vxi (O) variant is priced at Rs 7.57 lakh for the manual and Rs 8.07 lakh for the automatic trims. The updated Swift is now much better equipped to take on rivals like the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, Tata Tiago, and some of the cross-segment rivals with similar pricing like the Tata Punch, Maruti Balneo, and more.
Verdict
The updated Swift adresses some issues that were earlier very evident. The safety has been clearly increased with more features and a heavier body shell. The interiors are now refreshed with more features and restyled dashboard design. Since it was already a hot seller, these additions will only make it shine even more than before. But does this variant in particular, strikes the perfect balance of price to the package on offer? The anwer to our openeing questions is, Yes! However, if you still want more features, you can go for higher trims for that added bling.
