Upgrades

Jumping straight into the upgrades - this naked street sports bike's engine has been retuned to produce more power, and it now delivers 43 PS, up from 40 PS, supported by a revised valvetrain, cam timings, and intake duct. It can do 0 to 60 km/h in 2.7 seconds, and 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, with a new top speed of 157 km/h. On top of that, the NS400Z engine is now equipped with forged pistons for better thermal stability, reduced friction, and improved durability to handle the extra power. To add more, it gets a new radiator cowl, which is a structural change that improves the heat management of the bike.

Talking about the braking prowess, this bike is updated with sintered brake pads for the front - that are made up of a mixture of metallic materials and ceramic compounds. They are a known for their stopping power and are found in high end performance bikes.

The final major update is the clutch-less full-throttle gear-shifting system. Unlike a quick shifter, this tech-based feature allows the rider to shift up without losing grip on the throttle. Don't forget, this system activates only in Sports mode.

Verdict

This beast by Bajaj is an underrated product, and people don't really buy it just because of the Pulsar brand name. People looking for a 400cc motorcycle usually don't go for an over Rs 2 lakh bike with the Pulsar moniker. They opt for a more premium nameplate, which is why it doesn't get much attention. That said, this is a fantastic machine, and now it has gotten even better and more powerful. The kind of features it's offering now definitely improves the overall riding experience, but we can discuss it more after testing it. Till then, stay tuned.
