Audi India EV Localised Production Plans Revealed

The German luxury car manufacturer, Audi, has been conquering the automotive world and winning upon the hearts of the public for ages. Offering not just performance with a pinch of luxury, it has become more of a dignity mascot. Audi India seems to be confident enough as they have received a positive feedback for all the ongoing models in India. As per the statement by Mr Balbir Singh Dhillon, the Head of Audi India, the organisation aims to go all-electric globally by 2033, irrespective of the country it is based in. Thus, Audi India EV segment plans to ace up its sleeves to manufacture all EVs locally in India by accessing all the factors involved to produce them locally in India.

Currently, Audi offers five electric cars in India, namely, the e-tron 50, e-tron 55, e-tron Sportback 55, e-tron GT, RS e-tron GT. These electric cars have played a significant role in taking the retail sales to a new level, along with their petrol-powered Q-range and A-sedans. The current Audi portfolio has doubled the sales in 2021 when compared to the year 2020, but the organisation aims to reach a specific threshold for only electric vehicle sales volume to take a leap forward with local EV manufacturing. The authorities also stated that their all-electric powertrain goal is unquestioned whatsoever as they have received an unexpectedly high response than their anticipation.

Comparing Audi with the rival Mercedes Benz, the EQS sedan was recently announced to be assembled locally in India from this year. As per the authorities, they would not focus on bringing a single electric vehicle assembly line in India but rather on the entire lineup manufacturing. They have received a robust response in terms of sales figures, claiming their resources and supply chain to be strong enough to sustain their goals for the upcoming years and are optimistic about leaping forward.
