The BS6 emission norms came into the role from April 1, 2020, and it can be termed as the biggest emission change of the decade. The automakers tried their level best to comply with the new stricter emission norms. But during the transition from BS4 to BS6, a lot of car manufacturers bid goodbye to the diesel engine of some of their models and some ditched the oil-burner altogether. Those OEMs did so as they think the demand for small diesel cars is shrinking and also upgrading them to BS6 would have been an exorbitant task. However, some carmakers think differently and in this article, we will be listing the Top 3 Most Affordable BS6 Diesel Sedans In India Under 10 Lakhs.
Before we proceed, let me tell you that we have only included BS6-compliant sub-compact diesel sedans as they fall under the category of 10 lakh rupees. Also, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Tata Tigor have not been included in our list as they are now offered with only petrol engine options.

Honda Amaze BS6 Diesel

The first car in our list is the popular compact sedan from the Japanese car manufacturer Honda. The second-generation Honda Amaze was originally launched in India at the 2018 Auto Expo and it was the first car in India to come with a Diesel-CVT combo. The Honda Amaze is a preferred choice among the buyers looking for a diesel sedan with the convenience of an automatic. Also, it is the best-selling Honda car in India and it achieved one lakh sales milestone in a record time period of 13 months.
Honda has recently updated the Amaze with BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engine options. It gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine that churns out 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. The other and the popular mill is a 1.5-litre diesel unit that churns out 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT. The prices of the BS6 Honda Amaze range between Rs. 5.93 lakhs - Rs. 8.64 lakhs for the petrol variants and the BS6 diesel prices range between Rs. 7.05 lakhs - Rs. 9.66 lakhs, all prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi.
Hyundai Aura BS6 Diesel

Hyundai Motor India Limited launched the sub-4-metre Hyundai Aura sedan at the beginning of 2020 as a premium sub-compact offering. The Hyundai Aura was launched with three engine options and all the engines were BS6-compliant since its inception. Hyundai Aura is powered by a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine that churns out 83 PS of power and 114 Nm of torque. It also gets a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor that pumps out a whopping 100 PS of power and 172 Nm of peak torque. Hyundai is also offering a 1.2-litre diesel engine to content the desire of diesel heads. This oil-burner produces 75 PS of power and 190 Nm of peak torque. While the NA petrol and diesel motor come with both a 5-speed MT and an AMT, the turbo-petrol is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The BS6 Hyundai Aura is priced between Rs. 5.79 lakhs - Rs. 8.54 lakhs for the petrol models while the price of the diesel variant ranges between Rs. 7.73 lakhs - Rs. 9.22 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi.
Ford Aspire BS6 Diesel

Ford Aspire is a very popular sub-compact sedan in India from the house of the American car manufacturer. The Aspire is a sub-4-metre offering from Ford India and although it is a small sedan, it is big on space and comfort. Ford Aspire also gets the most powerful and most torquey engine in its class. This peppy yet frugal diesel motor also does its duty on other Ford cars like the Ford Figo and the Ecosport.
Ford Aspire is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre diesel motor that churns out 100 PS of power and a whopping 215 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 96 PS of power and 119 Nm of torque. Ford has ditched the automatic transmission from Aspire in the BS6 era and both the engines now only come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The BS6 Ford Aspire is priced between Rs. 5.99 lakhs to Rs. 7.44 lakhs for the petrol variants and Rs. 7.49 lakhs to Rs. 8.34 lakhs, Ex-showroom for the diesel ones.
