BYD Seal Sedan Unofficial Bookings Open

The BYD Seal EV, first unveiled at Auto Expo 2023, is reportedly arriving in India sooner than expected! Unofficial bookings have already started, hinting at a March 2024 launch. This sleek EV clocks in at 4,800 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,460 mm tall, promising spaciousness and style.

The BYD Seal EV turns heads with its sleek design, boasting a coupe-like glass roof, sleek door handles, and distinctive lighting: split LED headlights with boomerang-shaped DRLs upfront and a full-width LED bar at the rear. Step inside, and you'll be greeted by a futuristic driver-centric experience, featuring a central touchscreen reminiscent of the Atto 3 but measuring a whopping 15.6 inches!

A digital instrument cluster and head-up display add to the tech-savvy feel. Other noteworthy features include a central rotary knob for drive modes, dual wireless charging pads, central air conditioning vents, standard controls for the audio system level, heated windshield, and door handle-integrated speakers  a familiar touch from the Atto 3.

Also, just recently, the inaugural testing of the BYD Seal EV has been observed in India. The electric sedan, crafted by the Chinese automaker, was sighted undergoing tests on the periphery of Chennai, indicating its forthcoming launch in the Indian automotive market.

Powertrain: Whopping 700 Km Range

Globally, the BYD Seal EV boasts two battery options: a smaller pack offering over 500 km of range and a larger one exceeding 700 km. Both battery sizes can be paired with either a single or dual-motor setup, hinting at exciting possibilities for the Indian market. Reports whisper that the dual-motor configuration, producing a thrilling 530 horsepower and a 0-100 km/h sprint in a mere 3.8 seconds, might be the one heading our way.

Expected Launch, Price, And Rivals

Unofficial buzz surrounds the BYD Seal, with bookings underway even before its official price reveal which is expected to be around Rs 50 lakh. Deliveries will follow the price announcement, marking BYD's third Indian passenger vehicle offering after the Atto 3 SUV and e6 MPV. It aims to take on rivals like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
