Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles VECV have launched a new coach and sleeper bus range. The brand has been popular for its light to medium-duty buses along with its long-distance chassis, however, with the introduction of the new product based on the Eicher 6016 R LPO 12.4 m chassis, the brand has stepped into a new segment of buses.

As for the vehicle, the brand claims that the Eicher 6061 R LPO 12.4 m chassis-based bus is a robust vehicle that is fuel-efficient as well as comfortable. It comes equipped with a 5.1-litre VEDX5 engine derived from Volvos powertrain. The vehicle has the capacity to produce 210hp and 825Nm of torque at 1,200 to 1,600Rpm.

The new bus comes in different configurations. It is offered as a vehicle with 43 pushback seats as well as a sleeper coach that can carry 30 passengers onboard. The 43 seater comes with best-in-class 11.3 cu.m of luggage space, however, the Sleeper version with 30 berths only offers 6.5 cu.m of luggage space.

The chassis of the Eicher 6016 R LPO 12.4 m bus is robust and has structural integrity. The bus also has a corrosion-free fuel tank and high-capacity alternator. Also, VECV has mentioned that the driveline and chassis of the bus are built at the VECV plant Pritampur and the body of the bus is constructed at Volvos facility in Hosakote, located close to Bengaluru.

The fully air-conditioned new Eicher bus also features connectivity. It comes with onboard telematics that consists of GPS, enhanced vehicle diagnostics, electronic ticketing and also fleet management. In addition to all these, the bus offers cruise control, fuel coaching, Mbooster+ and Intelligent Engine Protection System for better driveability. Also, the coach comes with an infotainment system as standard and offers USB ports, reading lights, A/C louvres and speakers. It gets a theatre type saloon seating with LED ambience too. VECV also claims that the dashboard has been designed based on global benchmarks. It has integrated controls that are positioned in such a way that the driver can access them easily.

This new range of buses from Eicher is supported by Eichers pan-India service network, with over 500 touchpoints. They offer chassis and body service requirements. Further, a lifetime support solution is offered that provides a hassle-free experience throughout the ownership period.
