Upcoming Car Launches In July 2026: From EVs To PHEVs, It's All About SUVs

July marks the peak of the monsoon season in India, but it's not just the rains that are arriving in full force. The Indian automotive industry is also gearing up for one of its busiest months of the year, with a host of significant launches lined up across multiple segments. From long-awaited facelifts to all-new nameplates, several of these upcoming models have the potential to redefine their respective categories. So, without further ado, here's a look at all the major car launches scheduled for July.

Tata Sierra EV - 30th June, 2026

Tata Sierra ev

Seven months after the launch of the Sierra, Tata Motors is now ready to expand the nameplate with its all-electric iteration. Scheduled to debut on June 30, 2026, the Sierra EV is expected to be one of the most significant EV launches of the year. Its biggest talking point will be Tata’s Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) technology, which brings a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, previously introduced on the Harrier EV. This will make the Sierra EV the first SUV in its segment to offer a dual-motor AWD powertrain, giving it a distinct advantage over its rivals.

The Sierra EV will be positioned between the Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev in Tata's electric SUV lineup. Once launched, it will lock horns with the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and the Maruti e-Vitara. With segment-first hardware and Tata's growing EV ecosystem, the Sierra.ev is expected to further raise the bar in India's premium electric SUV space.

Expected launch price - Rs 20.05 lakh - Rs 21.00 lakh (ex-showroom)

Nissan Tekton - 9th July, 2026

Nissan Tekton

Remember the Nissan Terrano? Nissan is set to re-enter the midsize SUV space with the all-new Tekton, scheduled to launch on July 9, 2026. Based on the Renault Duster, the Tekton will feature Nissan's own exterior design and styling cues, giving it a distinct identity despite sharing its underpinnings.

The launch holds significant importance for Nissan India, whose current portfolio is limited to just three models, with the Magnite contributing to the majority of the brand’s sales. The Tekton has the right ingredients to make an impact in the segment, including rugged SUV styling, strong turbo-petrol engine options, and Nissan's 'Baby Patrol' positioning that draws inspiration from the brand's globally renowned flagship SUV.

Combined with its differentiated design, the Tekton is expected to strengthen Nissan’s presence in one of India's most competitive SUV segments.

Expected launch price - Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom)

MG Starlight Hybrid SUV- 16th July, 2026

Now, this is easily one of the most intriguing launches of July. MG has managed to keep the SUV largely under wraps, with very little officially revealed so far. The only thing confirmed by the brand is its launch date, July 16, 2026, and it is rumoured to be called - “Starlight”.

While official details remain scarce, reports suggest the new SUV will be positioned in the D-segment, where it is expected to rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, and Jeep Compass.

It is also expected to debut with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, potentially becoming India's first mass-market SUV to offer this technology, alongside an all-electric version. If those reports prove accurate, the new MG SUV could introduce an entirely new proposition in the premium SUV segment.

Expected launch price - Rs 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom)

Honda ZR-V - TBA

ZR-V

The Honda ZR-V is expected to go on sale this month. Pre-bookings for the SUV commenced on May 22, 2026, while media drives are scheduled for July, indicating that the launch is just around the corner.

The ZR-V will be brought to India via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route and is expected to be priced between Rs 42 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as Honda's flagship SUV in the country, this will cater to buyers looking for a premium, globally acclaimed SUV. To know more about the Honda ZR-V, click here. Moreover, given its expected pricing and powertrain, it will compete with the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, and Jeep Meridian.

Expected launch price - Rs 42.50 lakh (ex-showroom)

Skoda Kodiaq RS - TBA

Skoda Kodiaq RS

The Skoda Kodiaq RS is also expected to make its India debut this July. Bookings for the performance SUV opened on June 22, 2026, with the first batch limited to just 50 units. All of them were spoken for within six minutes, highlighting the demand for Skoda's performance-focused RS models.

The Kodiaq RS isn't a volume product, nor is it targeted at the average luxury SUV buyer. Instead, it is aimed at enthusiasts who have long wanted an RS-badged SUV from Skoda. More importantly, products like these act as halo models. They strengthen the brand's performance image, create aspiration around the lineup, and elevate the perception of the entire portfolio. While the Kodiaq RS itself will remain a niche offering, its presence is likely to have a positive impact on how buyers perceive the Skoda brand as a whole.

Expected launch price - Rs 52 - 55 lakh (ex-showroom)

Which SUV Will Make The Biggest Headline?

Among all the cars launching in July 2026, the Tata Sierra EV is arguably the one set to generate the most attention. Unveiled back in 2025 alongside the Sierra ICE, its launch was pushed back, stretching the wait far longer than anyone anticipated. Tata Motors is finally revealing it on June 30, with bookings and deliveries expected to follow through July.

One of its biggest highlights will be the 75kWh battery pack, paired with Tata's Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, a combination few rivals in this price band currently offer. Backed by Tata's scale as one of India's largest carmakers, this electric SUV has all the ingredients to become one of the most talked-about EV launches of the year.

But the segment it's entering isn't exactly a sales powerhouse, and the Harrier EV remains Tata's flagship electric SUV. That's not really a problem here though. Headlines and sales don't move on the same clock. The Sierra nameplate carries three decades of recall that no Tekton or ZR-V can buy overnight, and slotting QWD onto the smaller car before it trickles further down the lineup makes it the test bed for Tata's most important EV tech, not an afterthought next to Harrier. Sales will take their own time to catch up. The buzz won't wait.
