Citroen Aircross At The Bharat NCAP Details

The Aircross has scored 27.05 out of 32.00 points in adult occupancy protection. Going further in this category, the car scored 11.05 out of 16.00 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier tests. Protection to the driver and co-passenger's head and neck has been rated 'good'. However, while protection to the driver's feet and legs has been rated 'adequate', the Aircross receives a 'marginal' rating for protection to the driver's chest, thighs and pelvis.

Protection to the front co-passenger is a bit of a mixed bag, with chest protection rated 'adequate', pelvis and thigh protection rated 'marginal'. Meanwhile, protection to the legs and feet has been rated 'good.' However, overall protection in the side movable deformable barrier tests and the side pole impact test has been rated 'good', with the Aircross scoring a full 16.00 out of 16.00 points.

In the child occupancy protection tests, the Aircross fared 40.00 out of 49.00 points, with a full score of 24.00 points in the dynamic category, along with a full 12.00 out of 12.00 points in the child seat installation parameter, but an overall assessment score of 4.00 out of 13.00 points.

The Aircross is set to receive a new special edition variant, which will come equipped with green ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, cruise control, push-button start stop, an auto-dimming IRVM, cruise control, a 360-degree camera and more. Additionally, we can also expect the new Cara AI assistant to be added too.
It also comes with the choice of 1.2-litre nat-asp and turbo-petrol powertrains. The nat-asp unit produces 80.4bhp and 115Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual. The turbo-petrol unit pushes out 108bhp and 190Nm to 205Nm of torque, depending on whether you choose the 6-speed manual or the torque-converter automatic.
Verdict
The Aircross' performance at the Bharat NCAP crash tests, along with Citroen India's latest 2.0 campaign should certainly help things a little and move some units of the SUV out of showrooms, considering how aware the Indian buyer has become when it comes to safety. The Aircross may not be loaded with gizmos, but what it does come with is just about enough.
