The CR-V has been a consistent SUV from Honda Cars India since a decade now and the soft off-roader has never let down its buyers. Sure, with the competition rising and the prices of current CR-V reaching the territory of Toyota Fortuner, it becomes a tough choice for certain buyers. Yes, the prices clash but then both the SUVs are poles apart from each other. The direct rival to the CR-V was the Skoda Kodiaq but now that is discontinued, we are left with Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Please note, the Honda CR-V used to come with a 1.6L diesel until but moving forward with the BS6 norms, it was discontinued. It now comes with a sole 2.0-litre petrol engine with a CVT gearbox. It comes with a 2WD mode and the ARAI certified mileage equal to 14.4 km/l. It is a 5-seater SUV unlike the 7-seater found in Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. As you can see to accommodate the third-row, Volkswagen Tiguan adds an extra 109 mm of length than the Honda CR-V. It is at the width where Honda CR-V excels by providing 16mm more than Tiguan Allspace. Honda CR-V is slightly taller than the Tiguan Allspace by 4mm but that does not matter much.

Where Honda puts out a humble 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol on the CR-V, Volkswagen, on the other hand, places turbo petrol for Tiguan Allspace. The latter makes 189 bhp along with a peak torque of 320 Nm whereas Honda CR-V churns out just 152 bhp with 189 Nm of torque. On paper, the seven-seater is quicker than the Japanese SUV and also gets an edge of seating two extra passengers.

With the increased pricing, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace gets an edge over Honda CR-V in terms of features. It comes with a tyre pressure monitoring system, traction control, more airbags, three-zone climate control, 12-way electrically adjustable driver's seat and more. Both the cars come with a large panoramic sunroof and Tiguan leads in terms of features when compared with the cute looking Honda CR-V.

The price difference between both the SUVs accounts up to Rs 5 lakh approximately and with this, both the SUVs provide better pieces of equipment, features, engines and everything you need in an SUV. There is also one good SUV, Skoda Kodiaq which is good in terms of sales and features but then it is now discontinued. It will soon come in its facelifted version and a new 2.0L turbo petrol engine.
