Maruti Suzuki has launched a new offering in the CNG lineup with the debut of Fronx CNG at Rs 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom). The Maruti Fronx CNG competes with the recently launched Hyundai Exter CNG which sits in the similar price range as the Fronx CNG. The Maruti Fronx CNG has larger measurements in comparison to the Hyundai Exter. The Fronx CNG is 180mm lengthier and 134mm taller, while the Exter is wider than the Fronx by an additional 160mm in width. In terms of wheelbase, the Fronx has a 70mm longer wheelbase, which is an advantage.

On the engine front, both the vehicles boasts a 1.2-litre engine mated to a 5-speed transmission. However, the power and torque figures have some difference, the Fronx produces 8.4 bhp more power and 3.5 Nm of more torque. Also, the Fronx CNG's engine is 1.41 km/kg more efficient.
However, these numbers are marginal and will not make much difference in daily driving, but being in numbers the Fronx CNG is a clear winner in terms of engine specifications.

Hyundai Exter CNG Vs Maruti Fronx CNG - Features
The Maruti Fronx CNG is equipped with various features including a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, keyless entry, automatic climate control, projector headlamps, all-four power windows, and a shark-fin antenna, among other amenities.
On the contrary, the Hyundai Exter CNG is packed with a range of features such as LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), rear AC vents, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, electrically adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs), projector headlamps, automatic climate control, a smart electric sunroof, fabric and leatherette seats, and various other amenities.
Hyundai Exter CNG Vs Maruti Fronx CNG - Safety
Hyundai has done an impressive job in providing a comprehensive range of safety features in the new Exter. It includes six airbags as a standard feature, along with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill assist control, a rear parking camera with sensors, and several other safety amenities.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG on the other hand comes with little less features in terms of safety. It gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, rear defogger, ISOFIX child seat mounts among other features.

Verdict
While the Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG does offer slightly improved engine performance, the difference is not significant. However, if you prioritize features, the Hyundai Exter CNG would be a more suitable choice. In terms of pricing, the Exter CNG comes with a more budget-friendly price tag compared to the Fronx CNG.
