Hyundai Venue BS6 vs Tata Nexon BS6 And Other SUVs: Diesel Fuel Economy Compared

Hyundai recently upgraded the diesel engine of Venue from 1.4L to a new 1.5L turbo one which also meant that power figures went up from 89 bhp to a whopping 99 bhp on tap! However, the fuel economy of this new unit was unknown. Now that we have got our hands on the fuel economy, here, in this article, we compare the diesel versions of Hyundai Venue BS6 vs Tata Nexon and other!

Before we proceed any further, let me add that we have dropped the Maruti Brezza from the competition since it now comes with a petrol unit only.

With 23.3 km/l, Hyundai Venue BS6 diesel becomes with most fuel-efficient compact SUVs. When compared with the BS4 version then the newer engine sees a drop of just 0.4 km/l which is hardly an issue. The power figures get a 10 bhp jump and torque seems to have risen from 220 Nm to 240 Nm.

The second SUV from the list is the Tata Nexon which gives out 22.7 km/l as ARAI certified fuel economy, followed by the oldest running SUV in the market, Ford Ecosport. It gives a decent mileage of 21.7 from the powerful 1.5L diesel engine.

Hyundai Venue is the only compact SUV that comes with more features like the BlueLink technology, larger touchscreen infotainment system and is the most affordable option in the market right now. The diesel versions of the Venue starts from Rs 8.10 lakh and the top model fetches till Rs 11.41 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

Tata Nexon is an expensive affair from the lot as it starts from Rs 8.45 lakh and the top model sits at Rs 12.70 lakh. The Mahindra XUV300 is also similarly priced with the top model priced at Rs 12.69 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
