Hyundai Venue BS6 1.5L Diesel Prices Starts At Rs 8.09 Lakh; Rs 40k More Than BS4

Just days before the BS6 emission norms kick in, Hyundai has brought in an updated 1.5L diesel engine for the Venue and prices for the same starts at Rs 8.09 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The South Korean carmaker replaces the reliable 1.4L CRDi engine with a 1.5L which is borrowed from Kia Seltos.

This 1.5L oil burner is the same as the one found in Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta or even the upcoming Hyundai Creta. However, the power figures have been detuned and this now makes 99 bhp at 4,000 rpm with a peak torque of 240 Nm at 1,500 - 2,750 rpm. The one found in Seltos and Creta churns out 115 bhp on tap.

When compared with the older 1.4-litre, then it produces 10 bhp more and an additional 20 Nm of maximum torque. The previous generation used to make 89 bhp on tap with 220 Nm of punchiness. What's constant is that the 1.5L unit uses a 6-speed manual gearbox like before and no availability of an automatic is there.

Now, coming to the prices of the new 1.5L BS6 compliant diesel engine then it sees a price hike of Rs 40k more than the previous 1.4L oil burner found in Hyundai Venue. Please note that the updated diesel engine will also be seen on the upcoming Hyundai Elite i20 and Kia Sonet. The latter is a rival to Hyundai Venue.

Hyundai continues with the same two petrol engines - a 1.2L naturally aspirated motor and a more powerful 1.0L turbo petrol unit. The former comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and churns out 82 bhp and a peak torque of 115 Nm. The punchy turbo petrol motor rules out 120 bhp on tap with a maximum torque of 172 Nm. It gets mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

The bookings of the Hyundai Venue BS6 diesel engine has already commenced at a token amount of Rs 21,000 across all dealerships. The prices for the same starts at Rs 8.04 lakh to the top trim fetching till Rs 11.50 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
