Jeep India has launched the Meridian 85th Anniversary Edition, based on the premium Overland trim, priced at Rs 36.05 lakh (ex-showroom). Limited to just 85 units, the special edition marks 85 years of the Jeep brand globally with exclusive design changes, new tech features, and personalization options. But that's only half the announcement. Jeep also quietly updated the regular Meridian Limited (O) trim on the same day, adding its new CARA voice assistant and raising its price by Rs 45,000. Bookings for the anniversary edition are open now through authorized Jeep dealerships and the Jeep India website.
What's new with the Anniversary Edition

The Meridian 85th Anniversary Edition brings unique exterior decals on the doors and tailgate, a dedicated wheel-cap logo, and gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin it features an all-black theme that is complimented by Mayan Gold accents across the dash and trim. Further buyers can go with optional AXS packs: carpet floor mats, anniversary decal kits, ambient lighting, and sunroof illumination.
Apart from that there are no changes on the mechanical front, it stays exactly as it is on the Overland trim. Same engine, same gearbox, same 4x4 option. No changes, no upgrades.
All in all, it sounds like a good deal if you already wanted a top-spec Meridian and like the idea of owning one of only 85 units in the country. It's not such a good deal if you were hoping the anniversary badge brought something new under the hood.
The price math, laid out
Variant | Ex-showroom price | What changed |
|---|---|---|
Meridian Limited (O), before update | Rs 30.00 lakh (approx.) | Base trim, no CARA |
Meridian Limited (O), after update | Rs 30.45 lakh | CARA AI added |
Meridian Overland (regular) | Rs 36.05 lakh | Top trim, unchanged mechanically |
Meridian 85th Anniversary Edition | Rs 36.05 lakh | Overland trim + anniversary cosmetics + CARA, zero premium |
Look at the table and the pattern is clear. Anniversary buyers get more, badging, gold accents, exclusivity, for the same price as a plain Overland. Limited (O) buyers get one new feature and pay more for it. Jeep added the cost of CARA to its cheaper trim, while using the top trim to hand out free extras that make good headlines.
The Real Upgrade Is CARA

CARA is actually something that is noticeable here, not the anniversary tag. It's Stellantis' voice assistant, already seen on the Citroen Basalt, now landing on Jeep for the first time, working across 52 languages including major Indian ones, and covering navigation, calls, music, weather, and vehicle functions. Slipping it in through a limited-edition launch is a smart way to test it on a small, highly engaged buyer group before it becomes standard across the Meridian range, and eventually other Jeep models sold in India.
Should you actually buy it

Now comes the real question: should you actually buy it? If you were always going to buy an Overland Meridian, the anniversary edition is close to a no-brainer. Same money, extra styling, a badge that says you got one of 85. If you're deciding between Meridian trims from scratch, the Rs 45,000 CARA tax on the Limited (O) is the number that should actually influence your decision, not the anniversary story built around it.
