Kia Seltos Facelift HTE Base Variant Spied- Here's How It Gets Affordable

While Kia Seltos facelift is officially debuting tomorrow, we have another spy shot of the same. But this time around, it is the most affordable( not to be pronounced cheap) variant of the SUV. Previously, top and mid-spec variants have already been spotted undisguised and dropped major hints, the base was away from the camera lenses. But not anymore, hang on, as we tell you about what is missing on this one.

Kia Seltos Facelift HTE Base Variant- Trades Tech For Affordability

While the dashboard shot is clearly the first thing you look at, it misses out on the infotainment screen. And also, following this, speakers are missing too. However, it will get the usual styling updates, but since the base variant is the lowest in the line-up, it has a huge gap in features when compared to the top-spec variant.

What It Gets And Misses Out On

The new HTE base variant will copy the loadings (or miss out almost similarly) from the outgoing base model. You will get steel wheels, projector headlamps, a shark fin antenna, and keyless entry. Inside, it will boast manual AC, power windows, front and rear USB chargers, rear AC vents, manual driver seat height adjustment, tilt & power steering, and central locking.

Coming to safety features, it will get features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, ESC, HAC, vehicle stability management, rear parking sensors, and most likely, a tyre pressure monitoring system as well.

Missings

However, missing out on the infotainment screen and the speaker system is a downgrade from the older base model. The HTE base variant of the outgoing Seltos has a 3.8-inch audio system along with 4 speakers. This move is aimed at keeping the starting price around the 10.50 lakh rupees mark. It will also be missing out on features like the ADAS, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, cruise control, air purifier, and more. These are the features you get on higher trims of the Kia Seltos facelift.

Powertrain

It will most likely continue with the same tested engine as the current Seltos. Current engine options include a 1.5-liter NA petrol unit that churns out 115 PS and 144 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and IVT gearbox. The 1.5-liter diesel unit makes 116 PS and 250 Nm. Transmission choices include 6-speed iMT and 6AT. However, a new 1.5-liter turbo petrol unit is on the cards as well.

VERDICT- One of the most anticipated SUV facelifts, the Kia Seltos launch is just around the corner and it packs a punch. Since HTE is the base trim, it doesn't get the tech and loadings that the higher ones are going to offer. But this keeps the base price in check and in line with the rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Grand Vitara, and the fresh contender, the Honda Elevate.
