Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e 10,000 Units Delivered In Just Over Two Months

Mahindra kicked off customer deliveries of its all-electric XUV 9e and BE 6 on March 20, prioritising the top-spec Pack Three variants. In just 70 days, the company has surpassed 10,000 units delivered, a pace that translates to one vehicle every 10 minutes. The XUV 9e has emerged as the more popular model, particularly in its fully loaded form, prompting Mahindra to steadily ramp up production of both EVs. Initial demand was off the charts, with 30,179 bookings recorded on day one. While Pack Three deliveries continue, Mahindra has confirmed that mid-spec Pack Two units will begin reaching customers in July, followed by the base Pack One and Pack One Above variants starting in August. Both SUVs are built on Mahindra's modular INGLO skateboard platform, which will underpin a wave of upcoming EVs from the brand.

The BE 6 is Mahindra's most accessible model under its all-electric BE lineup, offered in five variants priced between Rs. 19.40 lakh and Rs. 27.40 lakh (ex-showroom, inclusive of a 7.2 kW charger). It comes with two battery options: a 59 kWh pack delivering up to 535 km (IDC range) and a larger 79 kWh unit rated for 682 km. Both versions are rear-wheel drive, with the smaller pack producing 228 bhp and 380 Nm, while the larger pack ups power to 282 bhp with identical torque. On the other hand, the XUV 9e plays the premium card in Mahindra's EV portfolio, available in four trims priced from Rs. 22.40 lakh to Rs. 31 lakh. It also gets 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery options, offering a certified range of 542 km and 656 km (ARAI), respectively. Performance figures for the XUV 9e are identical to the BE 6, with both battery variants delivering the same respective power and torque outputs.

Mahindra is offering the BE 6 in a choice of six vibrant colours: Tango Red, Firestorm Orange, Desert Myst, Deep Forest, Everest White, and Stealth Black. Additionally, buyers can opt for two exclusive satin finishes, Desert Myst Satin and Everest White Satin. Meanwhile, the XUV 9e is available in seven striking shades across all four variants, including Tango Red, Everest White, Desert Myst, Nebula Blue, Ruby Velvet, Deep Forest, and Stealth Black.
Verdict
The born electrics have struck a chord with the masses and the booking numbers are a testament to its appeal. While the overall package is pretty solid on both the BE 6 and the XEV 9e front, there is serious competition from Tata, which just yesterday launched the much anticipated Tata Harrier EV at an attractive price of Rs. 21.49 lakhs ex-showroom.
