Soon after rolling out the updated XUV 7XO, Mahindra appears to have shifted focus to refreshing another pillar of its SUV portfolio, the Mahindra Scorpio N. A camouflaged test mule of the Scorpio N facelift has been spotted at Chennai Airport, and crucially, this time it has revealed key interior details for the first time. Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift: Familiar Shape But Changes Inside

At first glance, the Mahindra Scorpio N facelift stays true to the upright, muscular stance of the current model. Heavy camouflage hides most of the bodywork, but the overall proportions and silhouette remain unchanged. The SUV continues to feature the signature dual-pod LED projector headlamps along with LED fog lamps framed by C-shaped silver surrounds. Subtle changes are visible in the front grille and bumper contours, which now appear slightly cleaner and less sculpted around the edges. The intent seems to be refinement rather than reinvention. From the side, the facelifted Scorpio N retains the familiar window line and pull-type door handles, while riding on 18-inch alloy wheels that appear to feature a new spoke design for a fresher look.

The most significant updates are inside the cabin, marking a clear step forward for the Scorpio N. The test mule reveals a larger floating touchscreen infotainment system, likely measuring 12.3 inches, replacing the outgoing 8-inch unit. This instantly modernises the dashboard layout. Equally important is the shift to a fully digital driver's display, expected to be a 10.25-inch unit, doing away with the previous analogue dials and MID setup. Despite these tech upgrades, Mahindra has wisely retained physical controls for infotainment shortcuts and the dual-zone climate control system, something that should appeal to usability-focused buyers. The cabin continues with the familiar black-and-brown colour scheme and soft-touch materials on the dashboard, along with the same three-spoke steering wheel. Practical touches such as the A-pillar-mounted grab handle also remain, reinforcing the Scorpio N's ease-of-use focus.

Features: What The Facelift Is Likely To Add

While Mahindra has not confirmed the final equipment list, the facelift is expected to bring in several meaningful feature upgrades. These could include a Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats for the second row, a memory function for the driver's seat, and a 360-degree camera system. Safety is also expected to receive a boost, with six airbags likely to become standard across variants, alongside continued availability of Level-2 ADAS, hill-hold control, wireless phone charging, keyless entry, and push-button start.

Powertrain: Proven Engines To Continue

Under the hood, the Scorpio N facelift is expected to remain mechanically unchanged. Mahindra is likely to carry forward the existing engine lineup, which includes a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol producing up to 203 PS and 380 Nm 2.2-litre diesel delivering up to 175 PS and 400 Nm. Both engines will continue with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options, while the diesel variant will retain the option of four-wheel drive, maintaining the SUV's off-road credentials.

The relatively production-ready appearance of the test mule suggests that the Mahindra Scorpio N facelift could debut later this year. Expect a modest price increase over the current range, which sits between Rs 13.49 lakh and Rs 24.34 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to take on rivals such as the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus, and others in its class.

Verdict

The upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N facelift appears to be a smart and well-timed update. Rather than altering what already works, Mahindra is focusing on meaningful interior and technology upgrades, areas where buyers increasingly expect more. With a larger touchscreen, digital driver's display, and the promise of added comfort and safety features, the facelifted Scorpio N aims at feeling significantly more premium while staying true to its tough, body-on-frame roots. If priced sensibly, it should have little trouble continuing the Scorpio N's strong sales momentum.
