Mahindra XEV 7e Docked At A Charging Station: What We Know

Mahindra's EV roadmap is taking shape rapidly. Alongside a facelifted Mahindra XUV700 scheduled for next year, the company is also developing a fresh, all-electric SUV designed to take on the premium segment. The Mahindra XEV 7e will reportedly be built on Mahindra's advanced INGLO platform, the same architecture that underpins the Mahindra BE 6 and Mahindra XEV 9e. Although Mahindra is keeping most specifications under wraps, earlier production-ready leaks have already revealed much of the SUV's styling direction. The XEV 7e is expected to share several design cues with the XUV700 while introducing EV-specific elements that set it apart.

Spy shots reveal a silhouette reminiscent of the XUV700, but Mahindra has added several design tweaks to emphasize its electric character. A blanked-off front grille, inverted L-shaped LED headlamps, and aerodynamically optimized dual-tone alloy wheels are among the standout features. Flush door handles and clean surfacing along the sides maintain a sophisticated look, while a full-width LED light bar at the rear gives it a modern and upscale touch.

Drawing inspiration from the Mahindra XEV 9e, the cabin is expected to feature a sophisticated dual-tone theme, piano-black accents, and a sleek two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo, adding a futuristic touch. At the heart of the dashboard, a triple-screen layout will likely dominate, combining a large central infotainment display with digital driver and co-passenger screens for a tech-forward ambiance.
In terms of comfort and convenience, the SUV may offer ventilated front seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, and a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Ambient lighting, remote auto-parking, and powered functions for the tailgate and driver's seat are also expected to be part of the package.
Performance & Battery Options
Under the skin, the Mahindra XEV 7e is expected to be offered with two battery pack choices, 59 kWh and 79 kWh, both paired with fast charging capabilities. Depending on the configuration, Mahindra is targeting a driving range of 500-600 km on a single charge. While a standard rear-wheel-drive variant seems likely at launch, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version is reportedly in the works, potentially sharing its motor and LFP battery technology with the XEV 9e and BE 6.
Mahindra is yet to confirm an official launch date, but multiple sightings of near-production test mules suggest that the XEV 7e could reach showrooms by first quarter of 2026. Positioned between the BE 6 and XEV 9e, it will take on rivals in the growing three-row EV SUV space, offering both practicality and premium appeal.
Verdict
With the XEV 7e, Mahindra appears ready to push the boundaries of its EV lineup. By combining the practicality of the XUV700's proven design with modern electric technology, this upcoming SUV could become a strong choice for families and enthusiasts looking to switch to electric mobility without compromise. If Mahindra delivers on its promises of range, features, and performance, the XEV 7e could well become one of the most significant EV launches in India's premium SUV space, bridging the gap between the BE 6 and the XEV 9e.
