Mandatory Reflective Tapes for Private Vehicle Owners: Noida Police

Vehicles found without the reflective tapes will be fined Rs. 10,000, as per the mandate by Noida Police.

In order to reduce the number of accidents due to low visibility in the city, the Noida Police has initiated a mandate. Wherein, two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicle owners will have to paste reflective tapes at the rear of their vehicle due to weather conditions and decreasing visibility. The police have also pasted reflective tapes on pillars and barricades, for the same purpose.

In order to give the move some momentum, and the necessary drive, the police conducted a drive pasting reflective tapes on DND Flyway Toll plaza. Generally, all vehicles come with reflective tapes, the move was to raise awareness among citizens to recheck their reflective tapes.

As per the Gautam Budh Bagar traffic police records, 798 accidents took place out of which 368 people died in 2021. Similarly, in 2020, out of 740 accidents, 380 people were killed. Most death cases have majorly happened due to poor visibility, especially around December, January, and February. There have been several sightings where cars have piled up on each other due to poor visibility on the highway. The reflector tapes will help to a certain extent to avoid such accidents, the Noida police believe.

The restrictions will lift off for one day and will resume again on 25th January from 8 pm, until Republic day celebrations are over.
