Maruti Suzuki has almost updated all of the cars in its portfolio with latest BS6 emission norms. It was the Maruti Eeco which we covered just a few days ago and now the carmaker has introduced Celerio BS6. The prices for the same starts at Rs 4.41 lakh.
Comparing the prices with the BS4 then Maruti Celerio BS6 sees an increase of Rs 15,000 - 24,000 for some trims. The top-spec ZXI (O) trim sticks at Rs 5.67 lakh. All prices relate to ex-showroom, Delhi.
Under the hood, the Celerio remains unchanged as it sports a 998 cc, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor. It produces 68 bhp on tap and a maximum torque of 90 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT gearbox. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency sticks to 23.1 km/l.

The Celerio also comes in CNG trim and returns 31.79 km/kg. However, with the cleaner fuel, the power figures get dropped down to 59 bhp and 78 Nm. Maruti also introduced a 0.8-litre in house diesel engine too for the Indian market sometime back. However, that was discontinued due to the poor sales and now it continues to sport a 1.0L petrol engine.
The styling of the Maruti Clerio remains the same and receives no cosmetic changes. It comes with basic safety features like dual airbags, Antilock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Rear Parking Sensors, High speed alert system and front seat belt warning.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio rivals with Hyundai Santro, Datsun GO and the upcoming Tata Tiago Facelift. The hatchback has been in the market for over 5 years now and doesn't dominate its segment that much. The cab aggregators though like this car. The sales were quite high when it was first launched and now it's not even close to what it sold before.
