Tata Motors Unveils Petrol & CNG Variants For Taxi Markets

Tata Motors has introduced new petrol and CNG variants of the Tata Tigor, specifically tuned and priced for taxi and fleet operations, expanding its presence in India's commercial vehicle segment. The newly launched Tata Tigor petrol XPRES model starts at an attractive Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom), while the CNG XPRES variant begins at Rs 6.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

Earlier, the XPRES range was limited to electric models only. With the addition of petrol and CNG versions, Tata Motors has now expanded XPRES into a broader, fleet-focused lineup, offering operators the choice of both conventional fuel engines and electric power.

Engine And Practicality

Both the petrol and CNG Tigor variants are powered by Tata's 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine, a well-known powertrain in the sub-4-metre sedan segment. A key talking point of the XPRES CNG is its innovative twin-cylinder CNG system, featuring a 70-litre (water capacity) tank, the largest offered in this segment. According to Tata Motors, this layout allows the car to cover longer distances on a single refill while still preserving usable boot space, a crucial advantage for taxi operators who often lose bookings due to limited luggage capacity.

What Else?

Tata Motors is positioning the XPRES Petrol and CNG as cost-effective solutions for fleet operators. The company claims low maintenance costs of Rs 0.47 per km and offers a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 km, which can be extended up to 5 years or 1,80,000 km for added peace of mind. To make buying easier, Tata is also offering finance options specifically designed for commercial customers.

To further support fleet operators, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has introduced exclusive fleet-focused dealerships in select cities. These outlets offer dedicated sales and service support, quicker turnaround times and better vehicle availability, helping operators reduce downtime and improve overall efficiency.
